It's cold and rainy in Paris at the moment (which might explain why I have a terrible cold right now!), but it's also a good occasion to take interesting photos... Hence this one, that I took at Hotel de Ville today right under a poster that promotes the Doisneau exhibit they currently have there. Not surprisingly this exhibit is very successful, that is why people have to line up, even when it's rainy!

They almost look like they are part of the picture with the way the ground is wet in the photograph. Cool shot!
ReplyDeleteHaving also viewed this from the street, I have to say you turned the photo of the photo into something even better. I guess that would be a way to describe art, non?
ReplyDeletePlease don't throw tomatoes at me, but I did not enjoy the exhibition of the Les Halles photos. I didn't find them memorable, just ordinary snapshots. Le Monde didn't ask me to be their art critic ,either.
I think Doisneau himself would be impressed with your photography skills in this shot!
ReplyDeleteGosh - yet another really great photo!! You are just getting better and betterer and bestest!!!I totally agree with Monnica about the concept and I love the colors and composition. P.S. - yesterday's post, which I didn't get a chance to respond to, was really interesting. I learn so much here from everyone.
ReplyDeleteLove this picture! Love Paris in the rain! Hope you get over your cold very quickly! Thanks for all your awesome pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteWow—life imitates art. What a fabulous photo! A tes souhaits, Eric, and I hope you're all better soon.
ReplyDeletefeel better Eric.....and please do your best with the cold/rainy weather as I am coming to visit family in Paris this weekend.
ReplyDeleteconvert to black & white and it could pass for a Doisneau! Great image Eric. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive photo! I bet Doisneau would agree :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon!
Another fantastic, shot, Eric. I agree with what everyone else said about it. PHX put it well, "you turned the photo of the photo into something even better."
ReplyDeletethe colors just pop out at you....that is quite a composition......
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a fabulous photograph -- everything is perfect. OMG, the contrast and the colours! I'm so happy that you captured the moment -- one in a million. You have a gift Eric. BTW, I did a painting in the 90's "ChinaTown in the Rain" my inspiration was all those gorgeous umbrellas.
ReplyDeleteThis is a favourite one. It's really great how the past and present becomes one. Well done !
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of your other photo where, I believe, a lady strolling down the street early in the morning, with her Mum, arms slightly intertwined.
ReplyDeleteElles se promènent "bras dessus, bras dessous."
