French tableau...

Could this view be any more French? I don't think so ;-) I took it near the place du marché Sainte Catherine, in the 4th arrondissement, where the restaurant Le Marché (to whom this very charming, old fashion mini van obviously belongs) is located. Do also have a look at the windows of the apartment building in the background; they are typical of the architecture of this area.

  1. Parfait! You have classic buildings, a chic Parisian lady, a pigeon, flowers in the balcony window boxes, cobblestones, the lamps...you are right. This could not get any more French. I think I had lunch on this square, and it was lovely.

  2. The entire scene is charming. I love that van (though I wonder what it costs to keep it in good repair).

  11. French? But where is the guy wearing the striped top and the beret? The "French" vans are colonising the rest of Europe.

  15. I love this photo, too. The van is the best! I wonder when it was made and whether it's hit 500,000 kilometers yet. Did anyone see the photo of the car that was driven into a metro entrance yesterday - the driver thought it was the opening to the underground Haussman Car Park? <80 Ohhhh noooo......!! (echoing sound effects) Thankfully no one was hurt.

  17. Were you following us around during our little trip to Paris Eric? :-)
After the ox head pic on Monday, now we have a pic of Le Marche - where we had dinner on Monday night! To add to the list of coincidences, we had earlier bumped into...Heather! (at our first choice restaurant which was full).
We had a pleasant meal. They always give you a little postcard of the restaurant as you leave. I think we have 3 or 4 now. They are all the same.
Got back to the UK late last night. Guess what? It was raining!

  22. Love your photo blog and this particular photo,a great little place to sit and eat,and we've done so almost every time we've beeen in Paris. Just came back from a trip and saw this van there, the first time I'd seen it,and my husband also took a great picture! I also found out a few years ago by coincidence when I was looking up location in Paris of one of the scenes in the Bourne Identity that this cafe is in a scene in the film. Here's a link - look at the third photo- that's Le Marche.Cool!http://www.movie-locations.com/movies/b/bourneid_1.html
