Paris Marathon 2012

Running for 42 kilometers (26 miles) is hard, but when you do it in the streets of Paris it's probably easier (not that I would know, when I run it's on a treadmill at the gym LOL!). I suppose that's the reason why each year, about 40 000 people run the Paris Marathon. Some take it very seriously (like  Stanley Biwott from Kenya who won today's race in a little more than 2 hours!) and some with humor,  like this one that I photographed in front of Le Louvre!

  1. I love a good laugh! This is a much more memorable photo than a run of the mill runner!

I thought the finish line was at Concorde, because I saw tents and lights from the Champs Élysées. I knew I missed the race, so why bother to go down there.? Turned out to be a Sarkosy rally. I missed everything today!

  2. But yet, PHX, you're missing it while in Paris, so you're missing nothing!

  3. Tu me fais rire, Eric! You were at the right spot at the right time to catch this one. And PHX (or I should say, CDG)—Jeff makes an excellent point, ma chère!

  4. THAT is my kind of running! Not that I think I could ever do a marathon, but if you're going to do it, have fun with it. It is on my list to attempt a 5K this year; we'll see how that goes!

  5. Cute photo.

I believe a healthy diet and moderate amounts of exercise are the way to go. I don't do that; I was just saying "I believe". :)

  7. Paris must be the absolute right place to run a marathon. I could never do it though, I think I would die :-D lol. But it would be a good excuse to go to Paris.

  9. I think he is waving his wand at you Eric!

Reminds me of a supporter of our local football team who sat in front of me once. He used to attend all the matches dressed like this guy - except in yellow, not pink. The nickname of our team is 'The Canaries'. Not surprisingly he was known as the 'Canary Fairy'.
