In front of the town hall there was until today an exhibition targeted at kids, dedicated to... Europe. They probably organized it a long time ago, and though it's wonderfully timely, as, as you may have heard in the news, Europe is once again at jeopardy. Greece has no more government, Spain and Portugal have a huge debt problem, and France and Germany have to negotiate on the latest treaty. It's not easy to build a new country... BTW, how good is your European Geography (I scored 55)?

Playing with Europe

Enjoyed this. Had difficulty with Eastern Europe though. Thanks, Eric.
ReplyDeleteI think to score 55 you must not know where France is ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, the 3rd time I tried it, I got 215! The first and second tries, well, let's just say that Eastern Europe was not my strong suit. LOL A 30 and a 5! But I am learning. I do love geography games and so does my daughter, she would love this photo! Her favorite pastime is to play with Google Earth and be a "flight attendant" and take trips around the world.
ReplyDeleteIt kept repeating until I got them all. Moldova? Kaliningrad? Life is an education.
ReplyDeleteI might be moving to Las Vegas. That's enough geography for me right now!
@William "I think to score 55 you must not know where France is ;)" LOOOOOOL In fact like the first commenter I had trouble with Eastern Europe (Belarus, Latvia, Bosnia... even Albania which is quite often in the news, I could not spot them properly!) Shame on me...
ReplyDeleteI got my Lithuania and Latvia mixed up. Quite frankly, I would ban all European countries except Austria having names that end in 'ia'.
ReplyDeletePerhaps when Europe is a new country (ha,ha), all the former countries could be given numbers, like the Paris arrondissement system. Only one big problem..... who would be number one?
Eric, when you said you got 55, I thought: Wow! Are there really 55 countries in Europe now?
Sounds like most of us need to take Eastern Europe 101. When I went to work at Air France years ago (even before they used computers to take reservations), the first thing they made us do in training was take an outline of Europe and draw in the countries and name them. Yeah, right!
ReplyDeleteI also had a problem with Balkans, but I scored 290. Hmm 55... isn't it a reason to be just a little bit ashamed? ;)
ReplyDeleteWell Magdalena, if you listen to William "I think to score 55 you must not know where France is ;)"!!
ReplyDelete@Jeff " Kaliningrad?" Don't worry, I had never heard of that name before this quiz (Sorry, for the "Kaliningradians" that visit this blog!!)
ReplyDeleteMoving to LV really? Good or bad? At least it would be quite a change weather wise, wouldn't it??
@Drummond "I got my Lithuania and Latvia mixed up. Quite frankly, I would ban all European countries except Austria having names that end in 'ia'." LOOOOOOOOOOOL
"Perhaps when Europe is a new country (ha,ha), all the former countries could be given numbers, like the Paris arrondissement system. Only one big problem..... who would be number one?" Not a bad idea... Number one? Well I have an idea LOL
That was fun, Eric. I like that folks from all over are inspired to say something about themselves. Your pictures inspire little stories!
ReplyDeleteI tried first time and start with 315 my mistakes were the Balkans and the Baltics. But I have an big advantage I am european. Hihi.
