Some of you may remember this photo (dancing by the embankment of the Seine) or this one (Tango dancers) where you can see people dancing by the Seine (every night or so providing it does not rain). Well I found a new one! It's organized by Bart and Baker, two guys who love swinging music and therefore making people swing. They organize these events all year long, but during summer they have these special sessions on Paris Plage. You have to know that in France, we still usually dance what is called here "le Rock" or what specialists call "Le Swing" (see this video! or this spectacular one from thje 50's). I personally love it LOL!

And you dance le rock as acrobatic as in your (great!) video !?
ReplyDeleteI feel like dancing dancing.....great shot!
ReplyDeleteIt is fascinating to watch the dancers rock! It is a fine example of what can mean being two (reference to the theme of the month). I like to see the deal through their bodies and their looks that say a lot! I guess we must have fun.
ReplyDeleteThe video is nice, especially considering that it dates from the 50s, before so many freedoms that we have acquired since ... As in many things, when we are well matched, everything goes!
It is my favorite kind of dance! What a great picture and they all look like they are having such fun.
ReplyDeleteThe video is fantastic. Of note: the women are all wearing flat shoes (as are the ones I can see in your photo). I wonder where in the heck did American women get the horrible idea to dance in high heels. It looks goofy and no woman can dance as well in them as in flats!
We call it the "Jitterbug" in the US, and what many of your fans may not know about you Eric is, that you can "cut a rug" on the dancefloor!
ReplyDelete@Thib. Er... no, I dance the "normal" rock! Besides I'm far too old for rock acrobatique !!!
ReplyDeleteDanced "Le Rock" with some
ReplyDelete'youngsters' at a wedding we attended in the Dordogne in 2006. In the U.S. we call it "jitterbug". Great fun!!!
That looks like SO much fun!! I would love to try it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the video, everyone is having such a good time. It does remind me of the jitterbug. My dad loved doing the jitterbug and was really good at it. He used to tell me that what we called dancing when I was in high school really wasn't dancing at all. :)
ReplyDeleteJitterbug?! Funny, I never, never heard that term. Anyway I really like it even though I don't dance much these days! (Maybe I should attend these Bart and Baker parties!).
ReplyDelete@Michael " that you can "cut a rug" on the dancefloor!"??? What does it mean?!
Eric -- to "cut a rug" means that you can really get out there and move on the dance floor—and I'm not surprised to hear it! Love the way you caught that flowered dress in full twirl. What fun!
ReplyDeleteoh, right "le rock" LOL, I forgot!! Yeah, they do it here, too. Swing is very cool, very upbeat, especially when they have the right music to go with it. Love that it has caught on in Paris as well.
