Another church to put on your list

Here is another church I had never been inside of before I took this photo (not surprising, there are more than a hundred of Roman Catholic churches in Paris!). It's dedicated to Saint Philippe du Roule and, well, it's worth the visit, especially at its end, where you can see this superb dome. It's currently Lent for the Christians at the moment and that is when they are supposed to fast or at least make penance and refrain from consuming goods like crazy (nothing to worry though, we have another sort of penance called "the crisis" for that ;-)).

  1. This picture literally took my breath away. Absolutely stunning to look at - and so much to look at. To think of the talent and time spent on building this magnificent Church is just mind boggling to me. It must be glorious when sunshine comes through the stained glass. Between the new Pope, watching The Bible miniseries here in the States on History Channel and seeing this gorgeous picture during Holy Week it is putting me in a reflective mood. Anne

  2. Perfect photo post Eric. Easter is almost here -- bunnies delivering eggs, and gold ones at that! Who ever made up this crazy holiday tradition? I love chocolate. :-)

  3. Great shot. Didn't know of this church, it certainly looks worth a visit. The problem is that the list just gets longer...and longer!

  4. Magnifique, Eric! I just google-mapped this church and saw that there is a Starbucks on the next corner—so you can go from the sublime to the ridiculous just by crossing the street.
