Triumph!

I love it when they hang the huge French flag between the "legs" of the Arch of Triumph on top of the Champs Elysées. They only do it on special occasions, like, at the moment, the celebration of V-E day. I like the street lamp style too, that's why I did everything I could to include it in the frame! Don't get fooled by the cars there, Paris is really slow at the moment; if it weren't for the tourists it would be totally empty!

  1. Love the grays, the clouds rushing toward the Arch.

  3. I love the lamp, too, Eric ~ it's a very cool shot! And the blue and red cars happen to be in just the right place at the right time ~ or did you choreograph that. ;)

  4. That is a lovely photo and the video of the picnic was so fun to watch. I so wish I was there. I love hearing Eric say "PDP" with that accent - charming!

  5. The sky is that Paris blue (between the clouds). As for we tourists: it is 40 degrees F this morning (5 C). May 10th? I should have stayed in Paris.

  6. How the car drivers can understand how to drive there, around the Triumph Arch? It looks like there are no lanes and the driving is chaotic like in India!

  7. even the clouds add another great layer to that Paris blue sky that I could look at forever. Between the lamp post, smaller flags on the Arch and the car colors my eyes look at so many places at once. Eric, you did a great job lining up this photo and since the Parisians are enjoying their holiday weekend elsewhere it was nice the tourists participated by driving the cars! Anne

  8. That is just lovely. (And is this unusual that all the Parisians have left Paris? A yearly event like August vacations, or just a rare time when there are 2 holidays in one week?) :) Planning for the future, you know!

  9. There's at least one Parisian in town—the friendly one! This is super, Eric. You can almost see the clouds moving.
