Playing with the light

We don't have much sun these days, but it's still possible to play with the light. I took this photo in a covered passage located very near my home - called Le Passage Jouffroy. I like it when people stop and try to avoid my camera thinking I don't want them in the photo, whereas I do want want to play with their shadows!

  1. Low light here today too because...it's raining, really raining. Bay Area residents are walking around grinning at each others, even though the rain is a bit inconvenient.

  2. I like the mood in the shot.

Here it's low light as well, but mostly because it's overcast and off and on snow.

  3. Here today the forecast is for 35C and sun all day ... *sigh* ...

  4. That's beautiful! The light streaming in through the roof and creating all these wonderful reflections is strong enough to eclipse all other light sources, magical moment.
Really interesting how people react when they see a camera. They are all excepting a powerful zoom that captured everything. Makes me smile when I have only a single lens and people dive under it, not expecting to be out of range anyway.

    1. Sould have been "they are all expecting" - brain and fingers dancing to a different tune.
      Sorry!

  5. There is a wonderful essay written by a Japanese man (sorry, don't remember his name) called "In Praise of Shadows." This is a wonderful illustration of that essay.

  8. Beautiful shot. I must not be as intimidating as you since no one ever tries to get out of my way!

  9. Ce passage est un peu comme une bulle d'intimité dans le bruyant Paris. Magnifique photo ...
En lisant les commentaires, je crois comprendre que Paris Daily Photo va entrer en sommeil ?

  10. It's beautiful! The days of grey and snow are upon us, I really miss sunshine and shadows. And I'll really miss my daily dose of Paris!

  11. Wonderful shot Eric. I will miss you greatly. Malta is a pretty unusual choice - it used to be associated with very conservative social views . I do hope that you can continue being creative there (and share it with us too!)
