Paris discount drugtore

Sorry, this is probably the ugliest photo you'll find on PDP (actually no I've done worse!), but if you come to Paris, you'll be happy to know about this place. It's the only discount drugstore ("Pharmacie", in French) in Paris, with prices that are usually half the ones you can find in a "normal" drugstore - and I'm not talking about "comfort products", like lotions or magical slimming pills, but about "real" medicines like the anti-allergies pills that I bought there today. Last thing: the address... Despite what you may think it is not located in a poor ex-centered area, but right in Saint Germain, at 26, rue du Four in the 6th arrondissement.

  1. Actually, Eric, I think it is a very cool photo. I love stopping in at random Pharmacies and seeing the vast array of products. I've gotten allergy meds and wound creams there as well. Very nice to have a doctor right in the Pharmacie.

  2. I think it's cool, too! And I'm sure I'll be very grateful for your tip, Eric. {The lime green is rather psychedelic, isn't it.}

  3. We have similar discount pharmacies here in Perth, you'd have to be mad not to use them, why pay more.

  4. I think your photo is kind of cool too (it's that lens!). Next time I'm in Paris and get the sniffles, I'm heading straight to rue du Four!

  6. Great advice, and it's in a great wandering area.

  7. It's rather artistic! You must have sneezed just when you snapped the picture! Everything except the highlighted front of the pharmacie is blurred! The more I look at it, the more I like it. After a few pastis, everything seems clearer to me!

  8. It's funny - I saw the pic and thought, wow, I love it, then immediately read that you hate it! Kind of hate it. But I love the colours and the effect, which you couldn't use every day, obviously!
    Cheers, Psychedelic ;~Sab

  9. I like it too even though it makes me dizzy :-D
A discount pharmacie is great. That could never be in Denmark, where the different medicine has fixed prices.

  10. Compared to the style of most pharmacies in the USA, the pharmacies in France are beautifully designed inside and out.

There is a design style to the pharmacies in Paris that I very much enjoyed while visiting last September. I knew I looked the dumb tourist taking photos of the green crosses. Thank you for bringing that memory back (and others as you post photos).

  11. I feel like I walked thru the Wonderland world into the life of a real Parisian. And for starters, that was just from looking at the picture!! You never know how people interpret your photos!

Now, repeat the first sentence and that is how the info You gave us made me feel.

  13. I'm afraid I have to disagree. I love this photo! But I like all kinds of weird stuff, so maybe my opinion doesn't count. :^) I receive your blog posts through my email, and look at them every day. Your work is always great.

  15. Like that place- usually make a trip there on my visits to load up on Klorane ( sometimes 400 ml bottles) and nice hand soap.

  16. Though I haven't been there in a few years, I recognised this shop, down to the location! This and the Monoprix around the corner are my "normal life" touchstones in Paris.

  18. In this photo, it is not the composition as much as the fond memories of French pharmacies and the familiar green signs, that make us all love this shot.

  20. I don't think it's ugly at all. It's fun! It makes me feel as though I'm falling into the pharmacie.

  21. @Bettina "That could never be in Denmark, where the different medicine has fixed prices." Same here, but only for prescription medicines which are highly regulated.

@Phx2cdg "You never know how people interpret your photos!" Yes you're right. To me there is nothing interesting about a pharmacy, but for someone who does not live here, I suppose it's different.

@Qui?? "Pharmacie..or Tabac....so many off them...almost every Corner... and both are Drug stores...!!!!!!" True!

@bill " I receive your blog posts through my email, and look at them every day. Your work is always great." Awwwwwww!

@Jaq "it is always so popular and very busy ." Incredibly busy, I could not believe it. I'm surprised none else thought of duplicating the concept in other areas.
