Playing with fire!

I found these guys in front of Notre Dame last evening. They were literally playing with fire surrounded by dozens of tourists - and locals! - admiring them. I took a lot of photos, trying to grab the movement of the fire while catching a very sharp image of the artists. I think this one is pretty much what I was trying to achieve, but I will never know if the other 5 gigabytes that I took are equally OK as... my SD card crashed! Yes, I'm furious...

  1. This is a great photo!

But what a loss to have your SD card crash! Is there a way to retrieve any of the lost data?

  5. Chapeau pour cette photo!
On the SD card... aie, yet another reason I'm reluctant to come of the Stone Age of film to digital. At a family wedding, I exclaimed after the cake cutting that I was out of film, and the newlyweds friends' started staring at me, "FILM?!" Alas, it's now almost impossible to get it developed at all; only a couple of outlets will do it at all, and they charge a fortune! Est-ce que c'est pareil à Paris?

  6. Beautifully captured, Eric! I know just how you feel about the SD card because I recently had every last photo disappear from my computer (que Dieu bénisse la disque dur portable!).

  7. I know you mentioned a new camera...can you share some details? The quality of no flash photography is amazing...especially with action involved. My digital Nikon's days may be numbered!

We saw a simular act on the beach on Playa del Carmen in Mexico and its' pretty amazing....

  10. @Ms M. "Is there a way to retrieve any of the lost data?" Yes I have found one! A softwere called RescuePro that allowed me to recover almost everything (including 3 stunning video clips that I was really mad having lost!)

@Janiet "Thanks for your dedication, taking so many photos to get the best for us. Would love to learn how to take such a wonderful shot."
Thanks Janet ;-) Taking a shot like this is not that complicated, you need to have the right camera and... read the manual LOL

@lupinssupins "Chapeau pour cette photo!" Merci ! And well, I understand your partiality for films, but I could not do that! ANd yes, now developing a film costs a real fortune (kinda like if you wanted to make a LP!)

@Alexa " I recently had every last photo disappear from my computer " Poor you! I have a, online backup system, that backs up my files every hour, I never had to recover any file so far and I hope I won't!

@EuroStyle "I know you mentioned a new camera...can you share some details? " It's a Nikon D7000. I also bought an amazing wide angle (Tokina), it helps!

@Ann "Thanks again for brightening my morning." Awwwwwwwww!

@Winski " You'll absolutely watch this in awe.." It's stunning. But the more I see things like this the more I'm frustrated not to be able to master all these software like After Effects for instance.
