Arc du Carrousel

I just bought myself a brand new camera and of course I could not help but trying it right away! So I went to town and took a few shots. The first place I ended up in, was the Cour du Louvre where the Arc du Carrousel, that I already showed a few times here (the best one!) and here, is located. This arch was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon's military victories. Once again the sky was clearing up after a long day of rain. It allowed me to take that cool shot, but I dont think the new camera has anything to do with it!

  1. Eric, great photo. It's not the camera but the mind behind the camera that produces the image. A $5,000 camera with an unimaginative mind will not produce a better image than the same mind with a $100 camera.

  2. Beautiful image! What Ken says is so true, but I *am* a bit envious of that new camera of yours!

  3. Looking forward to the new camera. I agree with Ken that the quality of photography is all in the photographer's 'eye'.

Needless to say, Monsieur Eric has a fabulous photographer's 'eye'!

  4. This is beautiful. I agree with the previous sentiments, too. It's your eye and imagination that creates the beauty you share with us each day.

  5. If a city spends money on public art work, the masses will flock to enjoy it. My head spins at what Paris has to offer and how one of my favorite citizens interprets it"

  6. Beautiful photo! I also agree with Ken. It's the eye that captures the best photos not the camera. I've gotten better photos from a cheaper camera than with an expensive one! Love the sky color!

  8. 7 years now and still not even one day I felt bored by your photos.
A new camera always helps the talent, to be revealed and developed even more! And you have a loooot of talent my friend! :)

But this photo is spectacular! One of your greatest ones!
And if you want any kind of photo process I suggest to you to use picmonkey dot com. It is still free and extremely easy to use!

ps. The camera you bought is great. "Kaloriziki" (good roots) as we say in Greece, which means in free translation, to stay with you for a long long time! ;)

  11. @Ken "A $5,000 camera with an unimaginative mind will not produce a better image than the same mind with a $100 camera." Probably true, but you have to admit that having a faster, more sensitive camera for example helps you when you have to take photos at dusk for instance ;-)

@Frab " I *am* a bit envious of that new camera of your" Don't be, it's nothing extrordinary really.

@jn "Needless to say, Monsieur Eric has a fabulous photographer's 'eye'!" Blush!

@Scooter "It's your eye and imagination that creates the beauty you share with us each day." Blush, blush LOL

@PHX3CDG "My head spins at what Paris has to offer and how one of my favorite citizens interprets it" Love the quote. Where are you these days?!!

@Kris " I've gotten better photos from a cheaper camera than with an expensive one! " Yes, I have too. Although I don't recall having taken any good photo with my built in camera on my phone for instance. Really bad!

@Petrea " I need a trip to Paris ASAP!" Please do so, so that we can meet at last!

@Philos "7 years now and still not even one day I felt bored by your photos." Awwww. And another blush. All you're saying in your comment is very nice and appreciated Philos. I will remember "Kaloriziki" (OK which sounds a little bit like "calories", but I won't take it personnally LOL!)

@Sab " but those marketing guys just got to me once again!" Aren't they good?! What did you get? It's probably on your blog, I'm going to check.

@Thib "And what is your new camera ??" I knew someone would ask LOL! It's a Nikon D7000. I still have to get used to it, but so far it's not bad. I also insvested a lot (too much!) in video stuff cause I want to develop my skills a little more in that field. I'll show you at the PDP picnic!

  17. Bee-you-ti-ful!! And no, the camera has very little to do with it. The talent of the photographer has everything to do with it and you're awesome!
