What do "The Three Musketeers", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "the Aristocats" or "Da Vinci Code" have in common? They all take place or feature Paris! Apparently there are about 800 American films that have Paris for scenery and the Paris town hall is currently honoring them in an exhibition that can be visited until December 15. A great idea! Thank you, thank you, thank you! No Paris for me this year, alas, but with the list and Netflix I may stave off my Paris homesickness. I was surprised at how many on the list I haven't seen. I've watched some real stinkers just so I could see Paris in the background. (Yes "The Last Time I Saw Paris"--I'm looking at you.)
ReplyDeleteThat would be a fun exhibition to visit!.
ReplyDeleteI just watched 'Ronin' again the other night.
ReplyDeleteMrs Vandertramp, you made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for an exhibition. And I love the composition of your photo, Eric.
I'll definitely go to this exhibition. One of the most delightful films shot in Paris that I've seen is "The Ambassador's Daughter" with Olivia de Havilland and John Forsythe (1956). Another is "Mrs 'Arris goes to Paris" with Angela Lansbury, Diana Rigg and Omar Sharif (1992). Paris is always magical as a movie location. I agree with Mrs Vandertramp - "The Last Time I Saw Paris" is also at the bottom of my list!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI am always looking out for movies that are 'shot' or take place in Paris.
I'm visiting Paris next weekend, if the weather is really bad I am certainly gonna have a try to see it.
Not to forget Midnight in Paris, of course! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteMy fave would have to be "Funny Face" with Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn. Just fun and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSaw it; liked it.
