I apologize for those of you who've already seen this photo on Facebook, but since everyone seemed to have liked it there, I though I would also post it here (for those of you who never visit Facebook!). I took it yesterday morning (Sunday), around 9:30 am at the Tuileries gardens. So much snow is really rare in Paris. FYI, this photo was originally taken in color of course. I like the black & white version because it gives it a little vintage flavor, but the color one has an interesting flavor to. So for once, I'll post two photos instead of one.

Is beautiful! Love the composition of the photo, very well done!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love black & white pictures. They always look classy!
ReplyDeleteAll your pics of Paris in snow are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...I like the black and white too! So much snow!
ReplyDeletelike both photos....black and white one is vintage and the pop of green in the chairs in the second one adds to the winter wonderland feel.
ReplyDeletehow much snow did you end up getting? I read the airport was closed.
so cold!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love this picture both ways!
ReplyDeleteSo thank you Eric for thinking about those who are not on Fecebook (yes we do exist somehow, and probably more even because of that).
ReplyDeleteThe color version is my favorite. The colors come out very nicely against the snow-white snow. It is a very well constructed picture, too. A great urban scene, quiet (each element does not interfere with the others).
Wonderful photo -- I favor the B&W version, but the other also has its own feeling.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Eric, what a romantic white Birthday for you no?? Something special which does not happen every year for you... Wish you every thing you wish for .. LOL ..:) Kara
ReplyDeleteI love them both.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, bon anniversaire Eric! This 21st is your day.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for this wonderful composition.
Snow, two monuments in almost perfect superposition, a gorgeous place. The running character, what momentum! I hope she was well covered ; leather is perfect. What a beautiful Paris we can observe. I like the color personally as true.
HB2U ;)
2 photos
ReplyDelete= 2 x more chairs
= 2 x more friends for your birthday !!
Joyeux anniversaire, Eric !
Wow Eric, you are so connected to your followers on Facebook and the Net. Your work is beyond words.
ReplyDeleteIt's your fault I miss Paris more & more every day ;)
ReplyDeleteBernadette
Snow scenes like this one works well in black and white. Enjoy the winter!
ReplyDeletethere are indeed some of us who never visit facebook so thank you very much for your thoughtful double posting. and i'm glad you showed this in color and b&w.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted this scenery !! Beautiful. I never visit facebook. I keep this area as your own privacy. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou spoiled us once again Eric; Everything is in the subtile note you get to all your photos. Joyeux anniversaire.
ReplyDeleteToday is the second Presidential term for B. Obama. Pictures I saw on the TV screen while having lunch were pleasant. I like how love is felt between the Obama clan specially with his two daughters. Seemed really happy for their Dad.
This confirms the 21st of January IS a big day! Well I don't mean anything on a political side as I don't know enough the US but Obama has a lot of charism and he (to me) walks into the posterity steps whatever will happen.
Very nice (both in color and b&w!) I can't decide which I like better, so I like them both best. I think the one with color has hints of photographs of the 1940's and their color tones. It's just lovely no matter what.
ReplyDeletei like both versions and it's your birthday so you can do what you want to do! happy birthday!!
ReplyDeleteAnother one who doesn't see facebook. Would have been sad to miss this sight of the Tuilleries gardens, so different to how I saw it!
ReplyDeleteIt's also Martin Luther King Day, Bérénice, so with the inauguration and Eric's birthday, January 21 is a major holiday in America!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo comme d'habitude et bon anniversaire, Eric !!!

ReplyDeleteMerci everyone. I had a rough day (despite my birthday:!) so I did not have the time to read all your messages carefully; I will tomorrow and will answer you.
ReplyDeleteBon Anniversaire!
ReplyDeleteI met you in 2006.
You made it through another one.
Black and white or color pix,
Your PDP is always fun.
And since you'll have another pic(nic)
With all our friends like PHX,
This year I'll be there once again.
Happy birthday, Eric! I hope tomorrow is an easier day for you.
ReplyDeleteI can verify that in the winter of
ReplyDeleteJanuary, 1972, (yes ages ago)
there was also that much snow
in Paris because I was there
for my first time.
