The Friday Mermaid

Let's end this week with a smiling creature: the little Mermaid. I found it on Paris Plage bien sûr and those of you who are in Paris at the moment will know right away that I did not take this photo today, as we haven't seen the sun in a long time here... Not to mention, there are 3 more days of rain ahead. All this coming from England, I'm sure! Anyway, soon I'll be on vacation, far from here.

  1. AnOTHER vacation, Lord Eric? Journalism is surely a lot different in Paree. You sure you don't need an assistant? Have a great time anyway.

The mermaid is lovely and a very clever girl to keep those shells on with no bra straps. I recall trying the same with coconut shells in the Seychelles.... but that's another story.

  2. Double-sided tape does work wonders, Lynn - hee hee.

What is Paris Plage? Is it an event or just an area that's fun for les enfants?

Paris plage is a temporary thing they do in the Summer. Check it out

  4. Vacation ... again, Eric? (rolling eyes) Some people have all the luck, uh?!

I don't think she's really smiling (well, not unless unless she's into S&M).

  5. I do adore la France. Vacation time is here and believe me, I can't wait to get away from all of this rain. Lynn - what WERE you thinking blowing those clouds this way? Pretty soon we'll be having floods like you had. Of course, you could at least use those coconut thingies to bail us out.

Pont Girl...this Paris Plage is just a conspiracy to make me homesick for the beach. When the weather is nice, it is very successful (despite what many Parisians say!).

  6. I don't think I'd mind some rain. It's been really hot here, but we do get the occasional summer rain which is nice.

  7. We have lovely beaches in Oz. Come on down!
'Far from here' - shall we roll out the sleeping bag, Eric?

  11. That is one ugly mermaid. I am sure that Krazy Glue would keep her shells in place. Must be hard work heading into the waves at the front of a ship. Poor thing!

  15. It would never occur to me to imagine a mermaid in...Paris.

Loved the smileys yesterday by the way :-D

  16. Good photo, Eric. Better view of sand and sails on this one.

OH, Prof. Parsons, sshhhh, she'll hear you. :)

Lynn, I agree, she is a clever girl. She carries an extra pair of shells just in case...

Poor thing, looks as though sailors have taken her captive, and I always thought it was the other way around. Allez, Paree, SET HER FREE!!! :)

Bonne journee, et bon weekend tout le monde. A la prochaine, eh.

  17. yay for mermaids! I posted a photo of one a week or so ago, but mine was swimming in a BC Okanagan vineyard, perhaps trying to get to Paris! I'd love to see Paris Plage sometime, but not sure it would be worth sharing Paris with so many other visitors. For now, I'll stick to May and rely on Eric to show us ParisPlage

  18. I'm a bit surprised she even bothers with the shells: it is Paris, after all.

Is that Pont au Champs in the background? I think the Pont Neuf does not have the N on it, oddly enough.

  19. I don't know either Jeff, but one thing I DO know...

If you jump off a Paris bridge, you are in Seine.

  20. And by the way, Johnny, she's not an ugly mermaid at all. In fact, she resembles my last girlfriend, except for the piscatory portion.

  21. Yes you are right, we sent it over, including this troublemaker of a girl. She would insist on standing in the middle of crossroads and caused all manner of traffic holdups. I hope you have better luck with her than we did.
