Paris Picnic

What better place to organize a picnic than the Carousel du Louvre, where I already took this photo? Well, that is exactly what I did yesterday, after work, when I attended a blogger gathering. The weather was perfect, the company was very good and the mood was rather festive, as you can see from this photo! For the record, the three people trying to reproduce Rodin's sculpture in the background are famous French bloggers Jacques Froissant, Sophie Januel and Laurence Thurion, the lady with a glass of Champagne in her hand, who is also the organizer. I wish I could organize such a picnic for ALL City Daly Photo bloggers one day...

  1. Yes what a good idea! Looks like you had fun there Eric. Good idea to pose your friends in front of Rodin. What did you eat?

  2. I linked to the three names you posted under the picture and so I say to you in big capital letters,THANK YOU ERIC FOR WRITING PDP IN ENGLISH! Their information on their blogs unfortunately, is mostly lost on me.
I think the sculpture is of the Three Graces, making Jacques a very good sport, indeed!

  3. Checked out their blogs. Interesting but not much that appeals to me. They don't meet PdP standards...for me that is.

  4. Looks like it was a great evening. I know it was a fantastic day weather-wise here.

Sorry to go off topic Eric, but wanted to check in on Jeff after I saw the news about the bridge collapsing in Minneapolis.

    Is everything ok Jeff?

  5. Merci, Michael, vous etes tres gentil. Everything is frightening here in Minneapolis. The city is in shock. Seven dead, 38 injured and--the worst--20 missing. My god, I drive this bridge every other day, it's the main route into downtown and through the city. I am in shock, but wondering if there is a reason I worked late instead of going downtown for dinner, which is what I was thinking about 5:30. There is nothing else to think about here but this terrible disaster. Thank you so much for your thoughts, mon ami. We will be recovering for some time, and the family of the 27 may never recover.

    Sorry to rant.

  6. Et merci, Eric, for the joyful photo. I needed it. It's midnight here and I needed some joy.

  7. Rodin, are you sure? Looks to me like a Maillol, Lynn.

Eric, will check your friends's blog and come back and comment later. Just finished going around the world on this fun DP theme day. I think I spent more time looking at blogs in the last couple of hours than I do in an entire month, but hey it was worth it.

  8. Holly smokes, Jeff, I'm really, really sorry. This is really, really awful! I was in the Bay Area during the 1989 quake and know a little bit how you feel yet do not know exactly what to say. So sorry. Our prayers are with these people on the bridge and their families :(

  9. Eric, this is such a delightful photo and I applaud the notion of a picnic for all CDP bloggers some day.

To Jeff and all in Minneapolis, my heart goes out to all of you. I really cannot imagine your pain and shock. I am sure everyone will help take care of everyone else, as neighbors do in times of trouble.

  10. Eric, why not organize a DP reunion in Paris for September 2008 - to coincide with the sister city theme! For so many of use, Paris is our sister city since it's how we came to the DP family! It could be quite a gathering!

Jeff, my heart goes out to you and your city!

  11. Tomate, yes, the images from the San Francisco earthquake have been coming to mind. Of course, that was a much worse disaster, as numerous roads failed and the human loss much greater.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. It's important to remember how fragile and ethereal life is. Remember to dance in the park at every opportunity.
(And the sculpture does resemble a Maillol, though with the big Rodin feet. The better to dance with, my dear...)

  12. Dance in the park, Jeff, what a wonderful philosophy, i've been thinking along the same lines recently.
I'm terribly sorry to hear about the bridge and the loss of lives. I was watching the breaking news at 2-ish last night and just couldn't go to bed. Had to watch. Just awful. I'm interested to find out the cause eventually. Do you have a blog, Jeff and will you be putting info on it at all? We tend to get a big story here in UK for couple of days then it disappears. I do hope that more people can be rescued from that missing list. Thinking of you. L.

  13. Eric, glad you have a good time with your blogger friends. These guys have pretty cool blogs. The lady on the right lists "sale bete" and "embruns" among others. I think these blogs have been around forever. They are blogs of a different caliber, let's just say, written by people who should do that for a living, F/T, because they're so good at it.

  14. Sorry, it's me again...

By the way, it's nice to see my "little" buddy (Eiffel Tower) stick out in the background ;)

  15. Only just been able to check out the blogs. Interesting. Love the photos of Laurence's. Lots of handsome men there. Eric you look positively divine! I like the photo of you being shyly caught photographing close-ups of the nude statues.

  21. Eric, this is weird but your link brings me back to my dashboard. Are you sure about the link or is it my computer?

  22. I confirm it's the link Tomate, but it doesn't bring me back to the dashboard but to this comment box.

  23. I should have said, I confirm it's the link that's not working, not your computer...

  24. What a good idea - a picnic for all- sounds like fun. We just need a time and place (in Paris)- perhaps next summer. We could bring our own baguette.

  25. No i didn't know this site - how interesting! I notice you have to reveal your true age at the end though so i will pass. You know it, Eric, but i think i shall keep it at that.

You look fab, Eric, in those photos! Really fab. I hate almost all photos of myself; it's very rare i am pleased with any.
