Roland Garros final (French Open)

Believe it or not, today (Sunday) while some lucky people will have a blast picnicking on the embankment of La Seine with a bunch of PDP fans (LOL) some others will be sitting in front of their television watching the final of the French tennis open, better known as Roland Garros (after the name of the stadium where it takes place)... Unless, unless... they take advantage of the giant screen that has been installed in front of the town hall and where I took this cute father and son photo today...

  1. Well, Eric was brought forward today to post. Perhaps it was a mistake for the organization of the PDP Picnic Day, where I'd like to go, but it is not possible. So Saturday, there are two photos on the PDP. ;)
I wish, tomorrow, the great Eric posted several photos of Sunday PDP Picnic Day.

  2. Maybe you ARE working too much, Eric, since you have the days all mixed up. It's not sunday yet, LOL :o)
Make sure not to be late for the picnic tomorrow !!! WE WANT PHOTOS and updates every five minutes !!! Please !?!?

  3. BTW: This father/son photo is cute. And what a huge screen. The people sitting down looks as if they shrinked.

  4. What's happening ?? LOL
Second post of the day or Sunday post and a mistake in the date?!! Anyway that's a surprise and I love it on PDP :)
this giant screen is a good idea to feel the atmosphere and it is not far from the embankment!
Thanks for the post! Hugs from the embankment just now. Really cool with this PDP surprise !

  6. I love how they put a giant screen outside! I was visiting Paris in 1998(!) when the World Cup Soccer tournament was in town and my friend and I watched part of a match on a giant screen in front of the town hall! The square was PACKED! Thanks for the memory!

  8. I've been super-busy all week (maybe as busy as Eric, if that's possible) but I'm finally getting a break, just in time for the picnic. So I'll be thinking about all of you tomorrow (today!) and wishing I were in Paris.

  9. Hope you all have a Marvelous Pique-Nique!!! Mangez bien mes amis!!! Bises.... ;-)

  10. It is 9:30 a.m. in Paris. It is POURING rain! A real Minnesota thunderstorm. Will the weather clear for the picnic? Better check the Facebook page for all the latest nouvelles!

  11. From Eric's PDP Picnic page on Facebook,

"PLAN B, IN CASE OF RAIN
    -------------------------------

If worse comes to worse, there is a café called Le Corona, just at the corner of rue de l'Amiral Coligny and Quai du Louvre (the address is 26 quai du Louvre) and I'll be there if the rain starts falling again. Not as fun as a real picnic, but still a way to meet and gather...

  12. We're going to be just fine. The rain has stopped and it's clearing up. It may be cloudy, but that will keep it from getting too hot, so it will be ok.

  13. Yep, I was running through Parc Montsouris this morning and the heavens opened bigtime! Bye bye picnic, I thought to myself! But now there's a bit of shy sunshine so I think it'll be ok! See you there, Paris photo lovers!

  14. Yes, the sun is coming through and it's 11:37am. See you all there!

  15. Have an absolutely fabulously wonderful and magnificent time! (Think I overdid it a bit? Nope.) I wish I was there, but obligations here prevent. Glad the sun is out for you. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

  16. Can't wait to see pictures.
Have a great time together everyone !

  17. How thoughtful of them to put up the big screen. Here in NYC, I'm visiting my mom and we're getting up early because the French Open coverage starts at 9 am. I wish I could see live coverage of the PDP pique-nique. Hope all you lucky picknickers enjoy!

  18. I can think of a few sports nuts who'd love to have that large screen at home. :)

    How fine that the weather has cleared up in time for the picnic. Perhaps that 'shy sunshine' Sab mentioned will become a little extrovert as the afternoon lengthens... I'm raising my nightcap and pretending I'm there. {Nope, it's not working! I'm doing something wrong.}

  19. Great pic, Eric, but I'd rather be by the Seine with you and everyone picnicking!

Hope you're having a great time - I KNOW you are, in fact lol. Yes we want pics, vids, whatever you can manage. We're all hanging in here waiting to hear more!.....

    Bises! xxx

  20. Have consumed several large snifters of brandy with a token gesture of warm milk. Still not miraculously transported to the pique-nique. Is it the wrong brand of brandy?

    ReplyDelete
  21. LOL Shell. I'm sure it must be the same brand of tea I'm drinking - as I'm not transported either.

  22. Just back from the picnic, but the party's still going and the people keep coming. And, oh yes, the sun DID come out!! Did I mention the champagne?

Tried calling you Monica, but no answer. Got a hold of UKLynn, but not PHX. Rose made it just in time to introduce me to Miss C, which was delicious!

  23. Thinking of you all! I wish I was there, but obligations prevent me too, like Christie!
You're not so bad with the weather and I'm glad for you. I was so sad this morning for PDP while waking up and hearing the rain was pouring outside... But it is better now and that's just FAIR!!
I'm sure you are all spending a delightful time for any PDP gathering with Eric cannot be otherwise than a delightful moment. I know what I'm missing... Sure Eric is going to think I'm lying but I am not.
    Yes, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
You needn't me to do it but I'm encouraging you to anyway ;-)
Cheers with you by thoughts and all my love.

  25. I'm glad to read your update, Michael! See, Lynn ~ your tea worked after all. ;)

All that brandy and milk has made me too sleepy to stay awake. I shall return in the morning to see what everyone got up to ~ enjoy! :) Zzzzzzz...

  26. We're all in different time zones--I've just gotten up, Michael's already left the picnic and Shell's going to bed! I'm glad the sun came out. Can't wait for the pictures. I miss you all!

  27. Bonjour mes amis,

Lest we forget, today is the anniversary of D-day of 6 June 1944 when the liberation of France was commenced on the shores and villages of Normandy. On this day we remember those brave French, English, Canadian, American and a host of others who valiantly made this undertaking such a world event. May we remember them and honor their memory.

  30. Yep,it was a good picnic. Good crowd, Guille did pop in to say hello on the way from and to her responsibilities. Rose arrived, as Michael said. Quite a cast of new faces, too. Good party. Maybe the best meal I've had in Paris this trip!

Some of us are meeting for dinner later. I need to take a nap!

  31. Most of me is in Nashville, but my heart has really, REALLY been in Paris today. (To clarify, I, too, would easily choose the PDP picnic even over Roland Garros. :). )

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thank you Michael and Jeff for filling us in so fast after you left the picnic.
Looking forward to the pictures more than ever now :oD

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dinner too, Jeff? How wonderful. You must satisfy my neverending thirst for pics pls.

  34. What I'm posting here is a pic of our lord, Eric, http://bit.ly/baOgvZ, as we would want to remember him! Just kidding - he's a really humble guy!

Michael I appreciate it and thank you infiniment.

Too big a time difference, I was asleep. Went to a party last night so it was impossible to wake up early. But still, listening to Michael's message with that noise in the back and knowing that the noise was you guys is great!

    Rosie Hi!!!!

Didn't know PHX wouldn't go, where is she?

On the other hand I knew Guille would show up. And did you notice her t-shirt??!!!
