Sunset

I know it's a classic, but I never get tired of it. I took it last night while the sun was going to bed... and the sky was still cloudy. For those of you who would not know: on the left La Conciergerie, on the right Les voies sur Berge (a sort of express way that the mayor of Paris wants to close and turn into a pedestrian area) and in the background Le Pont Neuf. Comme to the 5th PDP picnic this Sunday (June 6) at 1 PM you will see more or less the same scenery except that the sky will be deep blue! More details on this Facebook Page

  1. Such a beautiful sunset, Eric. Not a lot of cars on the road either and what is that I see in the background? lol.

Wish I could be at the picnic, but I will be sleeping and dreaming of Paris and . . . all of you!

  2. Breathtaking! I'll never tire of it, either. It is tattooed on my brain.

    Picnic? What picnic? ;)

  3. It IS a classic, Eric—and so beautifully captured by you! (And the sky over NYC looked almost exactly the same tonight.) I think it's a super idea to turn that stretch of roadway into a pedestrian area—but maybe that's because I don't drive! :~}

  5. Good thing you never get tired of it. As long as you don't get tired, we get great photos like this!

It's one of my favourite views of Paris too.

  6. Gorgeous! I have the same situation here in Monterey California. The scenery is like a postcard every day yet I never tire of it.

Thanks for the hard work, Eric! Have a wonderful time out on Sunday. I shall be admiring the sunset from my island universe.

  12. What a good new! How good that the mayor of the city wants to become this "voie" in a pedestrian way.

This is one of the most precious views of Paris classic images. But, when is a clear or diurnal photo, or when is taken at night.

I like that Paris has more pedestrian streets and places than before. At least, I've seen that in photos. For example, la Place de l'Hotel de Ville, narrow streets, la Place Vendome (still in 60s was like a "parking"), etc.

    Thanks, Mr. Tenin.

  13. I'm not really able to comment by these days for some reasons and looking at this picture seems to me as if I was swimming into this water to reach the embankment.
Maybe, I'll show up from the Seine next Sunday for the picnic... Are you accepting non English speaking children? ;)

  15. Neither do I. Every time I go to Paris, I end up exactly where you were when I took this shot, and I photograph it. So now I have a lot of shots of the same location, over the years. Never get tired of it.

  16. Simply stunning!

I'm feeling v homesick for Paris when I see this.

A agree with the mayor it should be a pathway to be enjoyed on a leisurely stroll.
