Palais Garnier in the light
You may think this is the normal lighting of the Opera, but it's not. They probably had a special night or something, when I passed by it a few days ago. The quality is not very good (it's really time I change my camera!) but... you get the picture! FYI, this the Palais Garnier, after the name of the architect who built it and it's a beautiful building both outside and inside (you can visit it daily from 10 am to 5 pm for 9 € and it's worth it...

Went to see Phantom of the Opera this past weekend! What a beautiful and fitting shot!
ReplyDeleteLove them all, Eric!
Mammie
Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteSo very festive Eric!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite Parisian building. When I was there in the '70s they wouldn't allow visitors except for a performance, so I had to content myself with the little ballet museum on the side. (Is that still there?) Thank you for this lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteIf I were in Paril I wolud visit this Palais...
ReplyDeleteit is beautiful; I stayed right by there once, great photo
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful building and looks lovely lit up like this
ReplyDeleteNew camera???
ReplyDeleteI hope Santa will appreciate how good Eric has been to all of the PDP users....:)
I was lucky enough to visit this weekend and it is just wonderful . If you want a tour arrive in plenty of time because places are limited and even in November it was very busy. I just reached the counter when the sign went up to say all the tours were full.We made our own tour instead.
ReplyDeleteI was also lucky to follow my vist with by meeting Eric for a drink so the perfect end to a perfect trip.
Excellent!! A new camera?? Whatever could you mean?? LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is really nice. ¿Does it deserve to be in the calendar? Warm colours for a cold night.

Ah. Maze. Ing. This is gorgeous, Eric. You do realize how blessed you are to live in a place that has scenery like that, don't you? Here's hoping you get what you want for Christmas, as you have been just wonderful to all of us. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, looks like it's lit for Christmas. I have a pencil sketch of Palais Garnier that is one of my favorite possessions. The artist spilled a little coffee on the paper and thus never finished the work, but a local frame shop framed it and I snapped it up. I love the coffee stain. The sketch is actually the reason I found PDP, as I was researching the opera house to learn more about it. I was feeling a little down this morning, but I feel much better now after seeing this. Thank you!! Valorie
ReplyDeleteGreat pic as always.I'm a fairly new subscriber to PDP. Do I like it...suffice it to say that your email is the FIRST one that I open every AM. Best,

So very lovely, and thank you for recommending that the 9 euros is worth it.
ReplyDeleteWhat cameras are you considering for your next upgrade? The photo is of nice quality, but I can't enlarge it by clicking on it. . .is image size what you meant by the quality not being good? Night shots are very hard to do well, and you do them splendidly.
-Kim
@Kim. By bad quality I meant the definition. My camera is not sensitive enough. I'm thinking of the D7000 by Nikon.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you do to get this shot, Eric, climb a lamppost? You can't get this perspective by just standing in front of it--I've tried.
ReplyDeleteYou know, i dont remember if I've ever been inside. Maybe once, a long time ago. Probably time to go back.
