A Swedish moment

Don't ask me why - probably because the terribly cold wave we have in Paris at the moment comes from Northern Europe, I had lunch at the Paris Swedish Church where the Paris Swedish community had their annual Christmas market. Not surprisingly I had salmon, a few smoked reindeer slices, a bit of ginger bread and a glass of delicious "Glögg" (Mulled wine). On the way out I stepped inside the Church and admired its stunning Christ statue. Nice unusual moment - especially in Paris! (And yes, before you ask: ALL the furniture they have on site is Ikea made ;-))

  2. It is a pretty photo.....
What made me smile here up in the cold, was the thought of a church furnished with Ikea products!:) Actually, not a bad idea to do so...
-Enjoy the rest of your weekend too!

  3. Pretty photo, Eric. I like the light and the browns. Somehow, though, I'm not hungry for reindeer.

  4. In Montclair, New Jersey, USA there is a Swedish Market Fair every December for the Christmas Holiday.

The serve a Swedish lunch, too! It's delicious.

  5. You should go there the 13th December for Santa-Lucia to enjoy the songs and eat some saffranbullar.

  6. Wow - that is a fabulous shot!

I'm an ex-pat Brit living in Sweden and can just say there is plenty more cold and snow over here if you'd like more... ;-)

  7. Hi Eric, bit of a 'great minds' moment there.
I didn't even know there was a Swedish church in Paris - how telling of my ignorance. As a matter of interest, does every nationality, or every European nationality at least have their own church in Paris? I know the Greeks have because I used to go there to humiliate myself doing Greek dancing with my future ex-wife.

  8. Actually I hadn't thought of asking that question :)
The thought of mulled wine brings back nice memories though. I was just talking (via skype) to my sister-in-law in Switzerland and she showed me all their snow. I am longing for a white Christmas.

  10. That is beautiful. Ummm ... gingerbread. That makes me want a gingerbread latte from my local coffee shop! (They use Monin syrups, btw) Might have to get one of those this week. I would try the reindeer too, I'm fairly adventurous when it comes to trying new food, but repeating is another story!

  12. I feel bad for you: i'ts 45 F (5 C) today here in a major U.S. center of Swedish (and Norwegian) immigration. In other words, it's a warm day for November.

Sab: "future ex-wife" is a marvelous turn of words.

I think I'm off to the Institute of Arts. (No, I've not yet begun Christmas shopping...)
