My new friend!

I don't know if you remember this last year's photo, but it happened again this year... "it", is the Geek Party, an event where a bunch of high-tech people gather and show to "the rest of the world" what they created. I saw many interesting things again this year, and especially this guy, called Nao, a French robot made by Aldebaran Robotics. Nao is by far the cutest robot I've ever seen in my life and even though he's only able to do what programmers tell him to do, he is still very cute! Check for yourself in this little video...

  3. Well it's also a way for me to keep up with the latest releases, which is important for my professional life. Of course it's not "typical Paris" but I'm proud to display French technology from time to time - For yes we HAVE a French technology!!

Welcome to you Nao and I'm sure Eric will take a great care of you or is it Nao who will take care of Eric ? Hmm both ;)

  6. I think I know what Santa is bringing you for Christmas Eric.
Everbody needs a friend and I hope you will be very happy together.
But remember, a robot is not just for Christmas, but a friend for life, or at least until the batteries wear out.

PS It walks like it's pooped in its pants.

  7. Robots are cute, but my Sweet Dolly and Boo are so much cuter and so much huggier! This one is really cute though--we watched the video and my son thought it was REALLY cool! So glad you have such a great job that you get to share all these new and exciting things with us, Eric. Thanks!!

  8. Cool. I used to work in Communications for UBC Computer Science in Vancouver, Canada and they have some well known profs who work in artificial intelligence but it really bothered me they didn't have a cute amazing robot like this to wow high school kids.

  9. Ok: NOW you're weird!!

(Well, I guess we all have imaginary friends. To quote a Calvin and Hobbs episode: sometimes I think ALL my friends are imaginary...)

    Bon weekend, everyone.

  11. @Drummond "I'd surely love Santa to bring me this little imaginary friend, but that's a 12 000 euro gift and I hear Santa is kinda broke these days...

  12. @Eric At that price, I think I'll just keep on putting rubbish in the bin myself!

  13. I'm pretty sure my friends are all imaginary but never mind that ;).

This robot is cute but I'm afraid I still prefer the animated versions of google's android
