Morning Snow

I don't know what's happening in Northern Europe at the moment, but we keep having cold waves and snowfalls! I took this photo in the morning near the Opera (at Boulevard des Capucines, more precisely), the ceiling was really low and the light could not really go through the clouds. At first I thought the garbage cans would not really look nice in the picture, but on a second thought I think they match the leave pretty well LOL! Today is the first day of Le Web, so I'll be pretty busy.

  1. Wow! I feel like I am back in Paris and I just got off the metro and I can see my breath in front of me and night is coming on I can feel the sting of the wind on my cheeks and the light is fantastic and, and.... everything! I love this picture! Le Perspective Tenin in all its glory. Merci!!

Le Web looks very interesting. I see that one of the speakers is one of the founders of the Homeless World Cup - a really cool event that you can watch in a great little film called Kicking It.

  2. Rome on the other hand went from 0°C to 10°C overnight. And today was actually balmy.

The planet has had enough of our rudeness.

    Wonderful Tenin technique.

  4. So did you slip and fall Eric? That's what this angle looks to me!!! I thing usually the #$%* green cans ruin most of my shots. I"ve got to figure out how to Photoshop them out! Here, you're right, matches the leaf! Hope you didn't break anything.

  7. Eric, I looked for your name among the speakers but didn't see it there.

"The planet has had enough of our rudeness." Well said, Eleonora.

Jeff, you've been making me laugh for days.

  8. Aaah, oui—the famous Tenin perspective! And even les poubelles are photogenic. This shot is great—and I love the look of Le Web aussi!

  9. This is beautiful, Eric. The colors look almost unreal; they are so beautifully matched. This shot provides a great feel for morningtime in "typical Paris." In Paris, the ordinary seems magical, a fact that shines through in your photos.

  10. The colours are great on this shot, Eric!
The green, of course, but also the pink and the "gold" of the facades!
Did you "photoshop" them? Or are they natural?

  13. I agree, Eric. The bins and leaf work quite beautifully together. I'm happy to see you're not losing your perspective because of the freezing weather. ;)

  16. What IS going on with the weather over there? It even made international news.

    Great shot by the way.

  17. Must be that Global Warming. Phew!

In the pursuit of greater international understanding, I thought you all might like to know that in the UK, these particular garbage cans are known as Wheelie Bins. Why? -because they are bins and they have wheels!
    How cool is that?

PS Angela- I think Goodebumps sound much more fun.

  19. Yes, morning snow, but I love those soft but atractive colours of the buildings behind.

  20. Drummond - I was picturing all the neighborhood kids (and maybe some of the adults) doing wheelies (really teenie wheelies) on them! I'd like one with flames painted on the sides. ;-) Most excellent.
