A nice experience

Thanks everyone for your nice comments yesterday. Browsing through 6,5 years of photos to prepare the presentation, I relived many nice memories (picnics, PDP meetings in SF, NYC, the 1st anniversary of PDP, the Smitha/Manu proposal...). Today at the Salon de la photo, I told everyone how much PDP brought to my life in terms of knowledge of the world. It also allowed me to make good friends. A special thank to Michael (for his help), Stuart (who took this photo), Cathy who came to see me talk (and someone from Canada whose name I forgot) and to Benoît from Le Déclencheur, who gave me the opportunity to give this speech today. Update: I just entered a Blog contest, can you please vote for me? Thank you!

  1. I wanted to say thank you too Eric for the pleasure I get everyday when I see and read about my favorite city and for the encouragement you gave me to start a Perth photo blog. Not only that but through the CDP I've 'virtually' met so many new friends and seen so much of the world through their eyes..I wonder, did you realize when you started this, that it would become so huge! Congratulations and thank you so much!

  6. Eric, please tell us how your talk was received by the audience. Do you think you inspired more people to blog? Or, to take photos?

  9. Congratulations to you Eric! I've been checking in for about 6 months now and I love to check every day to see what you have posted!! I wanted to ask what kind of camera you use? I'm looking at getting a new camera and you take such beautiful photos and since I'll be in Paris in January, I figured why not ask you. Felicitations!

  11. Hi Eric, Cathy and everyone,

Yes, we had fun yesterday, didn't we? After 5 years of following PDP daily, clicking on the site at 6:01 pm and clicking until I got the updated photo, I now have to wait till the next morning for the pic. Eric covered the hows, whys and what to do/what not to do when running a site. I was thrilled to see the original "Solitude/loneliness (Sept 20)" photo as I had wondered how he did it. Also surprised to hear that people asked Eric if he photoshopped the "Gare d'Orsay (Jan 1, 2009)" photo, beautiful beyond words, one of my favourites among many, many. Alexa, désolée, j'aurais aimé l'enregistrer.

Thanks to Eric for sharing so much of himself and his talent with us. It's a lot of work and you are a generous soul.

  14. I bet you delighted your audience, and perhaps brought a few more into the CDP fold. Amazing what you've accomplished with this little idea of yours, the friendships you've inspired, the opportunities you've given all of us to 'see again' with fresh eyes the places we live.

  15. Dear Eric,
I have to admit that I am one of those who gets their email in the morning and speeds over to the PDP to see what new things you have for us today. :) You are so dedicated and faithful and I hope you know how much joy you bring to me and the rest of your readers. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the lovely looks at a city I long to visit. Someday! (Hopefully sooner, rather than later!) A thousand thank yous! Merci!
