Zoom on Notre Dame

It's not because today is La Saint Eric (in France, a country of Catholic tradition, each day is associated with the name of a said Saint) that I'm showing a bit of Notre Dame, but just because I found out only yesterday that they installed telescopes in front of it, so that people can see the stunning details of its facade better. I did not try it though, because I did not have any coin (1 €) so I can't tell you if it's worth it. One thing I'm sure of, is that it helps making cool photos ;-))

  2. What a great idea! I have tried several times to try to zoom in on les gargoyles with my camera, and the photos never come out quite as sharp as the ones I see in postcards.

  5. I don't know how you did it, but this telescope is popping right out of my monitor. Crystal clear focus, too. Looks like awesome weather in Paris!

  8. A VERY cool photo, for sure. Happy feast day, Eric!
When I was baptized, the priest insisted that Alexa is not a saint's name, so he added on Mary (what else?). When I got to Paris and July 17 rolled around, everyone was wishing me a happy saint's day—on the feast of St. Alexis. So there, Father Flanagan!

  9. I like the telescope idea, but better yet, climb to the top of the cathedral for a magnificent view. You'll be closer to a few of the gargoyles and you'll love it so much you'll never want to come down.

  10. Oh! How I miss seeing Paris from the roof of La Samaritaine, the gift-wrapping excitement, and the relaxing surroundings the area has to offer.

Thanks for sharing this, Eric! Happy Saint Eric's Day!

  16. Drummond is referring to space villains from the Dr. Who television series. For those of you not familiar with that show, consider yourself lucky.

  18. LOL Alexa! That is priceless.

That would be interesting to see up close, but I don't know if I would use one of these. Maybe I'm too frugal, but I would much rather use the money to buy some great fromage! :)
