The end of the world!

The end of the world? Nah.... Just a little heat wave! We’re never happy, are we? Earlier in the season you heard me complain about the cold and the rain, now is the time to rant about the heat. “La canicule”, as we call it; is supposed to last until this Thursday and since very few homes have air conditioning in Paris (installing a unit is a nightmare as it is forbidden on most facades and you need to ask the permission to the co-owners of the building for a more complex installation!), well, we suffer! Nothing serious though, like in 2003 when 15 000 old people died after a 17 day heat wave (see this graphic).

  1. Are you sleeping on the roof Eric? They do that in NYC during hot summer nights. I think heat is worse when coupled with humidity. In San Francisco we have heat waves -- it's a dry heat, very little humidity.

  6. Hi thanks so much for your wonderful photos which we have been following with our 2 & 4 year old children.
We are travelling to Paris on Friday and hoping for some sunny weather there for the next 3 weeks! We are from Perth, Australia - and this year have had some sunny 23 degree days during our Winter - so we are a little spoiled!
But rain or shine we are very excited to spend 3 weeks in Paris!
Keep up the great work! :)
