Everywhere I look...

This will probably sound silly to you, but the more I pay attention to my home city, the more I notice tiny little details that I never noticed before. Here is a good example: this is a close up of a street lamp on the Place de la Concorde. Even something as trivial as a street lamp is beautifully carved - or rather casted - (of course they are not as beautiful as that everywhere in Paris, but still...). That was my "I love Paris" claim of the day LOL! And FYI,  I looked everywhere, but did not find anything about who manufactured these lamps. Tomorrow, a more obscure aspect of Paris...

  1. That is probably one of the reasons why your project makes total sense, because you'll never know what you'll discover next. I'll try taking more photos of my home city too :)

  5. I think this happens when you have a camera at the ready pretty much all day every day—and I love the result. Would be glad to see more of those details too.

  6. This is one of the things that make a great city. There are great museums and buildings and monuments, of course, but the appreciation of the extra effort to make public works to be works of art is fundamental to a great city. Paris is full of these details.

  8. Glorious :)
Is it a picture of an angel head inside a flower that we can see on this parisian street lamp? I am not sure but this idea sounds well and refined.
I'm wondering what you mean Eric by 'tomorrow a more obscure aspect of Paris'... ! I'm looking forward to discovering it at midnight (obscure could be linked to the Moyen-age times in Paris?).

  10. Eric

May be you will find the answer in this:

    http://www.fontesdart.org/la-fonte-dart/des-lieux-a-visiter/en-france/752-place-de-la-concorde-paris

"la fonderie Muel à Tusey, près de Vaucouleurs, qui remporte le marché des colonnes rostrales livrées en premier et des fontaines ensuite."

At the bottom there is another link

  12. @Vera "because you'll never know what you'll discover next." Yes, even after 7 years!

@Chritie " It's the little things that make life SO interesting! :D" God is in the detail!

@Ms M "Paris has such wonderful treasures!" It's unbelievable

@Alexa " think this happens when you have a camera at the ready pretty much all day every day" Tell me about it!

@Jeff "but the appreciation of the extra effort to make public works to be works of art is fundamental to a great city." True. And this is what costs the most. That is why not all cities could afford it throughout history.

@Petrea "What did I tell you, Eric? Glory everywhere!" LOL

    @Cindi "Thank You!" My pleasure!

@The Beaver. Yes, you're right? Thank you. I obviously did not look
    deep enough on Mr Google!

@M3M3 guzmán "Keep searching, Eric." That is what I do now!
