Not all stores are facing bankruptcy on the Champs Elysées... This one, for instance, that I photographed yesterday evening looks like it's doing pretty well! Cartier is a French jeweler, founded in 1847, that is world famous. They recently celebrated their 165th anniversary with this stunning little film that I strongly recommend you watch, if you haven't already.

That is so pretty! I love the blue cats. Did you pick me up a bauble while you were there?
ReplyDeleteMerci, Eric! I love the Cartier cat...if only I could afford one of those beautiful bracelets. At least I can afford the time to watch the films. Cartier had some wonderful Christmas films (advertisements), too.
ReplyDeleteAnd your picture is stunning, too. Cartier with the Tenin perspective.
WOOOW !!!
ReplyDeleteCartier without Bresson but... Cartier with Tenin ;))
That rocks...!
Superb film. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteabsolutely stunning film. I remember how beautiful this building was when I walked by it in October...are they giving away little baubles to celebrate their anniversary?
ReplyDeleteLove the photo - love the film. That commercial played frequently in the states in Decembre and I thought it was the most beautiful commercial I've seen. This would be a great Valentine's pic! Love!
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb film! And your photo is also excellent!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible commercial! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShockingly long commercial played in the U.S. [which averages 15 or 30 seconds, normally]. Both times that I've seen it here, it brought tears to my eyes. LOVE that commercial!
ReplyDeletePS - YOU are our Bresson :-)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen that film before—must not be watching enough TV! So thanks for sharing, because it's just gorgeous. And I'm glad some French business is doing well on the Champs Elysées. :~}
ReplyDeleteThey are not about to close? Dommage!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the French for "gross" ?
Do you prefer "grossier" or "dégoûtant" or "répugnant" ?
That's what it looks like if you earn what I do while working 60 hours per week!
Yes this commercial is exceptionally long; I remember being really amazed the first time I saw it on TV (it was actually shown outside the normal commercials slots, which probably costed them even more money!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it.
And yes VF at the same time spending that much money on jewelry is shocking, but that's how it goes: if they are so successful it's because there is demand for their products.
Yeah, that is a fun video.
ReplyDeleteAnd with apologies to Dr. Seuss, it ends with a fox in a box!
That was a really neat video. Thanks, Eric!
ReplyDeleteThe Tenin perspective with or without Cartier is always a must ;))
ReplyDeleteSuch a dreamlike film! They succeed well in carrying their message ; elegance, refinement, smart touch.
Classic Cartier style… Much like YOUR work….
