Imagine! On new year's eve, right by the opera house, one of the Apple stores in Paris was robbed! By today's standards robbing Apple is like robbing a church or a temple ;-), so it made the headlines right away and the news channels even sent a crew to witness... well to witness nothing since the robbers had long time gone! The bottom line is that they robbed for about 400 000 € worth of iphones, iPads, etc. I'm sure Appe will get over it.

Last robbery of the year...

Just a little "byte" at the Apple!
ReplyDeleteYeah, a million here or there ain't gonna hurt them too much I reckon. They've got my dosh for the iPhone 5 after two months of waiting, so I hope they're happy about that...
ReplyDeleteThe apple store in Torino was robbed about before Christmas, although was in a lesser scale than that in Paris. Are apple stores being a target now?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think the stores are insured,so maybe they in the end earned more that what their sale of that day, who knows....?
Hate to think how much their insurance just went up.
ReplyDeleteToday we just went to the Verizon store where there are about 20 different phones for sale, with many different sizes and features, and in the Apple section, there was the iPhone4 and the iPhone5. That was all they needed, I guess. :)
All the gear at our local Apple store is securly tethered to the display counters, and stock for sale is kept in a back storage room inaccessible to any but employees. I'm wondering how one could steal that much merchandise, so I'm thinking this was a burglary/break-in where they took all the stock rather than a robbery when people were present?

PS, love the colors in your shot.
ReplyDeletedidnt it happen while there was a large police presence on the Champs for New Years Eve celebrations? also, could it be either well planned out or maybe some inside information?
ReplyDeleteApple's Paris digs look pretty nice.
ReplyDeletePetrea, I thought the same thing about Apple's Paris store. Much prettier, and with the Parisian character that would make the US stores more beautiful and less "sterile".
ReplyDeleteAnd we will see the iPhones to be sold in the streets of European cities - it's not uncommon in Budapest
ReplyDeleteThat is correct about the merchandise at an Apple Store. There is keypad entry to the back and the store samples are tethered. I'd love to know how they did it. Maybe it was an inside job? I can't imagine how they gained access to the merchandise.

Maybe they should just stay open 24/7/365, like the flagship store here in NYC.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the impact ... How possible without any Inside information??
ReplyDeleteSomething funny, I remember that on the 31st eve, the comment I left from my IPhone, in the PDP comment box, oddly disappeared..., which surprised me a little, but ... as my IPhone did not, I think I'm lucky ! :) LOL
It seems that Apple kit now days is as good or better than cash !!!
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S scary..
That's a lovely building!
ReplyDeleteThat's also a great caper to pull off a robbery like that on New Year's Eve.
