The crowd!

In the Tuileries gardens there is a stunning sculpture that I never showed you. It's called La foule (the crowd) and it was made by British sculptor Raymond Mason. It was completed in 1967, purchased by France’s National Fund of Contemporary Art and placed in 2000 in the Tuileries. How not to think of  Edith Piaf's song?

  1. Oh how have I managed to miss this? It's now on my new Paris list. My fav is Deitman's Nobody's Friend that looks like a pointy headed troll with his hand out. I photographed my grandchildren sitting in his hand.

  4. I admire the creativity and the power that emerge from this fresco, not to mention - of course - the music of Piaf. That really is the feeling : the power of anything we wish in art, in life, in love as strong as the crowd.
Cerdan & Piaf in pictures, Piaf in song, a beautiful gift.

  6. Like Virginia, I've managed to miss this too. But must admit I rather prefer the "classical" statuary in the Tuileries—they just seems to go with the setting.

@Petrea and Ann. Yes I agree it's kinda creepy, but it's cool too ;-)

@Virginia. You missed it? You haven't been to the Tuileries gardens this time?
