Vive Ganesh!

While some in this world are celebrating Labor (by not working!), some other celebrate Ganesh, the God that helps removing obstacles and who's also the patron of arts and sciences, and the god of beginnings. No wonder he is one of the most worshiped deity in India and... in Paris! For we do have a pretty large Indian community in France (about 30 000 in Paris in particular), mostly located in the 10th arrondissement, near the Gare du nord and in the Passage Brady. I took this photo at La Chapelle which technically is in the 18th arrondissement, but very close to the 10th. I have never been to India yet, but I hope to go soon...

  2. What a wonderful array of bright colors! I can't help smiling about the guy, just left of center, who seems to be checking his cell phone ...

  3. I always thought that Sarasvati was the patron goddess of the arts. But no matter, the category of "the arts" is big enough for several gods and goddesses.

When you say you hope to soon, is this a definite plan? (Eric in India with a camera? So cool. Can't wait.)

  5. Hello Eric: have been off your blog for a long while (and so missed a lot of good stuff). Just read about your surgery and I hope you are much, much better now.

You must let me know once you have the dates for your India plan. And you must spend time in Chennai (Madras)!
