If you come to Paris, do pay a visit to "Le musée de l'histoire de la médecine" a very interesting museum you can find in the former Medicine Faculty, in the heart of Le Quartier Latin. It's fascinating to see the old instruments, the dummies and the odd tools they have used to cure people throughout the ages. One thing I can tell is that I'm happy to live in the 2000's (mind you in a 100 years, somebody will probably write the same caption saying "I can't believe they had to operate on people to remove the appendix in the 2000's!"). By the way, here is a little Animoto I made after the photos I took there.

This place looks fascinating, Eric. I think Paris must have a museum for everything! Going to check out your animoto now.
ReplyDeleteFascinating indeed for I really can't picture myself with that piece of bone inside me... I know it is silly but, hey, I think it is pretty well hidden in everyone!!
ReplyDeleteLove the melody you chose for the animoto. So warm and enchanting. Contrasting with the one who scares at me in your photo ;-)
I only miss time... to visit all museums but I always catch up on a lot of things, in my life. So just don't loose hope...
I'll put it on the list; maybe for the rainest day in Paris. There are so many more places I'd rather be, like the Luxembourg gardens this week in 70*! And I still haven't seen the Chambord Chateau. And it goes on and on and on............
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the owner of the skull ever dreamed his head would be displayed like this? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteyikes that is creepy.
ReplyDeletebut I like your film, the music keeps it lighthearted.
We have the "Museum of Questionable Medical Devices". It's quite funny, though scary. Strange things out there...
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this place. Your photo is dramatic!
ReplyDeleteAbe, you put an interesting perspective on it.
Speaking of medicine, there are times I have felt just like that after a certain amount of self medication.
ReplyDeletenice animoto, it is scary to think that some of the instruments were actually used on human flesh...
ReplyDeletebut I find it interesting (I liked Thorwald's books too) :)
@Tall Gary LOOOOOOOOOOOL!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Tall Gary!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Tall Gary!
ReplyDeleteOoops! It seems like I should stop my own self medication ... ! Sorry for the bis repetitae message ;)
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry Flore. Self medication can be conquered. You don’t have to do a thing. Just leave it to these guys.
ReplyDelete(You don’t see me complaining about the repetition, do you? Ha ha.)
The advances of medicine in surgery today are really amazing. Great shot.

Excellent Tall Gary and thank you for your comprehension.
ReplyDeleteThen, I won't have to leave it to these good guys!... OMG ... scary, isn't it?! ;-)
Gosh is that circular thing to take a finger off? Brr.
ReplyDeleteLove the animoto Eric. What an interesting museum - in Britain, photography is usually banned and I loathe it.
Health care, scary though it may be here in the 21st century, is nothing compared to the past!! I have to admit I'm a wimp and would hate to live in a time when surgery and such were actually more dangerous than now. Yep, I'm loving living at this time. :)
ReplyDeleteI like this part of your caption : "mind you in a 100 years, somebody will probably write the same caption saying "I can't believe they had to operate on people to remove the appendix in the 2000's!".
ReplyDeleteChristie, you are not a wimp or, I am too ;)
Love the video you posted. I must admit it is something I wish I could do.
I'm still feeling weird these days. Don't think surgery or medicine could do anything for me...
Very very horrible. Anyway I like your blog very much.
