Yes, I know, it's another boring Paris Statue... ;-) But I took it at sunset and it gives it a little flavor that you won't see that often! FYI, it's called the Roman Warrior, it's one of the four statues that are to be found on the Pont d'Iéna (the bridge just underneath the Eiffel Tower) and it was made by Louis Daumas a sculptor we know very little about...
Oh, Eric! Boring? No, it is magnificent. The colors of the sky are just spectacular, and we never tire of Paris statues. Merci, merci, merci.
ReplyDeleteBoring? Are you kidding me?
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous, but I'm easy to please when it comes to anything Parisien..:)
ReplyDeleteThis is like if I was there right now.
ReplyDeleteChange of space and time.
A Roman warrior statue can NOT be a boring statue but is the symbol of the strenght.
Love the horse too.
They form a nice couple, don't they?
Thank you Eric. I'm delighted with your choices of photographies.
Have a beautiful night.
T'es pas un peu fou toi?? So NOT boring—especially with that sky for a backdrop!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you caught some pigeons in your shot. I found out the other day that pigeons and doves constitute the bird family Columbidae. The largest range of any species is that of the Rock Pigeon (formerly Rock Dove). The range of the species increased dramatically upon domestication as the species went feral in cities around the world.
ReplyDeleteWow! This sky is completely new to me. I'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteMerci Eric, tu déchires! Bisous ♥
The colors are spectacular, Eric!
ReplyDeleteThat sky looks like it has been touched by the hand of God. Well, we think of you as a kind of god.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else - this is beautiful!
ReplyDeletecool...it's sort of a psychedelic background!

ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to get a statue to pose for you. It's quite another to get the birds to do it. But the sky? Not boring. Nowhere near boring.
ReplyDeleteEric's photos sometimes open my eyes :)
ReplyDeleteSo many times around this bridge, but have NEVER paid attention to any statues... I wonder : what else have I missed ? :)
Beautiful sky! Love the softness of the colors of the sky and the hardness of the color of the statue. (Is there such a thing as a hard color? That's what I see.. maybe it is just me!) But, just lovely and never boring. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sky! Terrific. -- Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteWhat a light! What a sky! Christie, the color of the hardness is the color of the stone, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI like to put my hands on statues when the Sun has warmed them. Stones need the Sun to be warmed. Otherwise one could think of them as something cold. When there's no sun, stones need warm hands on them. Hmm, today is a pretty cold day here. I miss the sun...
Oh my that is lovely!!! The colors are amazing, they look irridescent (sp?). And a Roman warrior and a beautiful horse... two of my most favorite things in the world! Grazie mille or Merci! You totally made my day. This is calendar material in my humble opinion. xo Valorie
ReplyDeleteI am a sculpture conservator in the US and I love every photo you post of a sculpture, monument, building details, art, etc. I felt truly sorry for the conservators who had to remove the all the stickers from the lions last year! With every PDP post my excitement builds for my trip to Paris next spring. Merci!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this picture :)
ReplyDeleteThe brio of this warrior is so perfectly enlighted by the soft color of the sky that it really makes a wonderful composition. Thank you Eric. Your eyes on this Statue keep away anything that may be boring sometimes with statue (pictures.) Merci.
In a rush. Just checking messages. Look on blog's sidebar. See thumbnail gem most glorious. Clicked. I love this shot. Looked at it long and long. Leaving now. Mood much improved.

@Patty " I felt truly sorry for the conservators who had to remove the all the stickers from the lions last year!" Well in fact, it all went pretty smoothly. No damage done and an excellent photo opportunity ;-) But I understand what you mean.
Bonjour Eric, On the contrary, each statue tells a story (never boring) and I love stories! Best wishes, Therese
ReplyDeleteUnearthly sky! Marvelous!
