Wallace Fountains, part II
Do you remember this post? It showed one of the many Wallace Fountains installed throughout the streets of Paris. I don't know why, but it triggered a lot of comments including one from Kauser in Los Angeles... He wrote: "Did you know that we have our own (working) Wallace Fountain in Los Angeles, near UCLA campus? I walk past it each day". Well people, I had to fight a little bit to retrieve it from the server (gee!) but here it is, thanks to Kauser who took the time to take the shots and send them to me.

The Wallace fountains look especially beautiful surrounded by the palm trees.
ReplyDeleteHow bizarre to see this fountain in this setting! Thanks Kauser and merci Eric for the excellent shot. It also beats all of the snow shots on the web recently.
ReplyDeleteWell, THE Wallace collection (same Wallace) is in London, in Manchester Square..... It is particularly famous for its 18th Century french painting... I wonder if he swapped the fountains for paintings?
ReplyDelete… and its amazing collection of clocks, Ham. Quite fun to go there at 12:00. One of my favorites in London. You're right about 18th Century french painting. And as there is also quite a few of english ones, it is really thrilling to compare.
ReplyDeleteThe LA one is lovely, but I'm partial to the one you captured in Paris.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to my photo blog, Eric.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kauser! That is kind of a neat way to look at this fountain!
I know exactly where the Los Angeles version of the Wallace Fountain. I went to school at UCLA and everytime I passed by I always thought that its too beautiful to be placed in a street corner.
