Ferris Wheel

Last night, on my way home after I had dinner on the left bank, I passed by the Place de la Concorde and I saw the Ferris wheel near the Jardin des Tuileries. The weather was nice, it was still early and I decided to stop and take a ride for the 1st time in my life! I did not really enjoy it to be honest (I suffer from vertigo) but I did manage to take a good photo, that I'll show you later this week... this one is taken from the ground.

  1. Eric, that's bravery above and beyond the call ... I can get vertigo on high-heeled shoes, so I sympathize and think you must have done very well to get a good photo, despite.

  3. Love the photo, hate the ferris wheel as it is a blight on an otherwise spectacular skyline.

Will steal the line about vertigo and high heels, lol!

  6. phx-cdg - I hope that someone in your profession doesn't suffer from vertigo! Off on another plane today so catch you all later in the week.

  7. Fabulous photo! The Ferris Wheel was no where to be found when I was in Paris in May.. do they only have it certain months?

I would have loved to gone on it.

Can't wait to see the other picture!

  8. Kudos to you to experiment the Ferris Wheel despite your vertigo. That's one more to cross off your list!

  9. La vertige.... elle n'est pas amusante, n'est-ce pas? Sometimes I even have a problem driving over bridges, and THAT is certainly not fun!

  10. Oh Eric, once again you go over and beyond the call of duty for us, and we love you for it. Vertigo!!! And not to mention you'd just had dinner, which I hope was not a heavy one? This tip is after the fact, but in Amusement Park Survival 101, one learns to not eat a large meal before going on a ride, and keep your head facing forward, which helps prevent injury and motion sickness. I can't even imagine the aerobics you did up there to get the proper shot. :)

Bon debut de semaine a tous!

  11. We went on that ferris wheel once. Never again. It was terrifying! The girl in the buggy behind us was very funny (& pretty) though. We kept looking back at her. First she was smoking, then drinking from a wine glass, then the third time we went round, she was on her mobile phone, smoking & drinking, almost at the same time.

Try the London Eye when you're next in London. It's a lot slower and sturdier than the Paris ferris wheel.

  12. Michael: Yes, I do occasionally have vertigo! I can look out of an airplane window or ride a ferris wheel, but a bad cold landed in my ear with the result that I can have the world start spinning around me for about a minute once every 2 yrs. Pres. Bush ,I read ,had the same thing happen to him.
Eric, I can't believe you went thru that sense of imbalance for your art! Yet it's worth it for me and for those high heels.

  13. ...and those high heels can be rented from Pielib!

(I got a late comment in for yesterday.)

  19. WOW! my parents, my cousin and I went on the ferris wheel the 1st time we went to Paris 10 years ago! It stopped when we were right at the top and my goodness it was a bit scary! Especially when my Dad decided to swing our seat! But we took some great photos, like the one above! Brilliant to see it, will have to go on it again next time I go x

  20. Michael hope you have a nice flight, and again, hope the city (here we refer to it as "that strange city on the south" - because we´re always joking about them you know!) treats you well.

  21. I thought they took the ferris wheel down. I remember being very disappointed that I never went on it before I left Paris. Did it make a recent resurgance?
