Giant Rugby Players!

Odd isn't? How did they manage to stick these players on this building? Is that come kind of projection? Or a mock up, the size of a doll house? Nothing of the kind... In fact the whole scene , including the building behind the players, is fake! That is painted on a giant plastic canvas. They do that a lot in Paris when they need to redo a building and don't want the people to see the work. I love them.

  1. Ha! It sure fooled me and got me wondering, "How did they do that?!" :-D

  2. Much better than looking at nasty construction! I wish they'd do that more here.

  3. I don't know if it is still there, but on Ave. Georges V,as you walk from the Champs Elysees downhill, there is a building on the right that is or was covered with that plastic canvas. It looked like a real building but the perspective was off. It looked like a building at a wavy sway, like in a fun house. What a sense of fun your city has!

  4. By the way, thanks Loraine! I went down to a game in Pensacola back in '96 with the Richmond Renegades--we did Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville, 3 games in 3 days. It was brutal and awesome all at the same time. :) I seem to remember that some of our guys will be in Pensacola's training camp--you'll have to let me know if they stay! :)

To tie into the picture again--one of my friends in college played rugby and he had a bumper sticker: "Rugby. We eat our dead."

  5. I love it too! It seems so real!

I think I saw a building with a canvas on Champs Elysees.
I know I saw the building that will be the Nespresso store with a canvas on the front.
I think they want to compete with Starbucks and Columbus.

  6. As an occasional visitor to Paris, I love it too. I remember the summer before last, the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs Elysées was done up as a giant LV case -- very clever!

  7. Paris is indeed a clever city...what a fun concept to detract from "construction eyesore." We learn so much from PDP. :-)

  9. Soosha Soosha Soosha!!!

I just went to your blog and see the awesome graduation gift your giving yourself! I've made my modest donation and can't wait to see that Eiffel Tower thermometer light up!

Hey everyone, check out Soosha's blog and see what she's doing. Maybe she'll make it to our annual picnic along the Seine Eric & Jeff!

  10. Yes, I remember the Louis Vuitton building done up as a valise too - pretty impressive! Shame about the France-Argentina game though, eh Eric!

  11. This is awesome!! What a wonderful idea. Is it sponsored by a store? Or is it made from public money? Just curious.
