View on the Seine
Friday, December 11, 2009 Posted by Eric Tenin
I rarely post twice in a row a photo that I took in the same place, but today I'll make an exception for I also took this photo at the Paris town hall - but this time through the window. What do you think about the view? Not bad eh? The statue is the one of Etienne Marcel a former provost of the merchants of Paris during the 14th century (see more on Wikipedia). And the buildings on the the other side of the Seine are located on the Saint Louis island.

More blues and golds, with a little haze thrown in. I love this, Eric. Of course, I'm partial to any picture of Ile St. Louis, one of my favorite spots in Paris. I envy M. Marcel's his view.

Love the way you caught the rays from the spotlight, and the golden lights from Ile St. Louis reflected in the river. Probably not a view I'd ever get to see otherwise (ditto yesterday's), so thanks for doubling up!

Yes it's gorgeous.
Haven't been here for a few days - I've missed you Eric - coucou! :)

Really a beautiful shot; it has a kind of passion in it. :)

Lovely. Even a horse's ass is a grand site in Paris.

Not bad at all, as you wrote. Monsieur Delanoe is very lucky to work in such a beautiful place with gorgeous views.

What do we think of the view? Fantastic!!!
We can only see the actual view of the town hall because of you!!!
The last pictures are all stunning too. Guess Paris managed to get even more beautiful this winter huh ;)

Very dreamy, Eric.
ETSuzy & Tomate: Lol!

Marcel was quite a 14th c. revolutionary...certainly did more than just kick around the nobility. No wonder he's immortalized in a statue with an amazing view. ;-) With a name like Etienne, he probably was made a saint too and has a cathedral named in his honor as well. :-0
Heads or tails? Either way, we all win with this photo. Giddyup

Sometimes the best perspective includes the butt end in the frame. Ask yourself: is any aspect of your life free of odd elements? I love Suzy's comment, and I love this photo.

@Lynn, I know I've been out to a trade show for two days.
I'm back to "normal" now, so I guess I'll have more time to be with you all ;)

December 11, 2009 11:44:00 AM GMT+01:00
Has a metro station named after him as well - Etienne not E.Tenin that is!
Who knows though, perhaps someday?
Lynn, your unauthorised absence has been noted and placed on file.

Breaking News:
Police are searching for an intruder who charmed his way past security guards to gain access to the office of the Mayor of Paris yesterday.
The suspect is described as a middle aged man with a friendly manner. A police spokesman said, "It's unlikely he is local, as quite frankly, friendly Parisians don't exist."
The Mayor discovered his unexpected guest lying in a prone positon near a window when he returned from a 'comfort break'.
When confronted, the man is reported to have mumbled something about 'the need to get things into perspective' before fleeing the scene.
"He is obviously a deranged malcontent, but you can't please everbody" added a remarkably calm Mayor afterwards.
A scooter, which the suspect is believed to have used, was later destroyed in a controlled explosion.
No arrests have been made as yet.

"Not bad eh?" I think it's beautiful.

I just saw in the news on France24 that Johnny Hallyday is in a Los Angeles hospital. This has made me very sentimental, and I am listening to his Noir C´est Noir. There's a 60's music video on YouTube. Man, am I getting old? Funny how when you think you are going to lose something, it makes you want it all the more.
December 11, 2009 11:52:00 PM GMT+01:00
What's wrong with Johnny?
December 12, 2009 12:01:00 AM GMT+01:00
LOOOOL Loïs!!

Tomate Farcie, the news said "French rock legend Johnny Hallyday has been put back into a drug-induced coma in a Los Angeles hospital, where he is recovering from surgery after an allegedly "botched" operation performed in a Paris clinic."
Trivia: Johnny has a home in LA. One of his favorite leisure activities is riding his Harley-Davidson on long trips through the California desert, staying in small motels along the way.

I'm a bit late to tell you how much I love this photo, Eric. It must be a privilege to see the statue and the Ile St. Louis from this point of view!
PDP Newsdesk: funny! (Drummond?)

Late comment.
Petrea, is it that obvious? Think I may need to change my style!
December 12, 2009 5:26:00 PM GMT+01:00
Don't change a thing, Drummond.
