Warm Metro
I'm sure you could feel the cold from yesterday's photo so today let me offer you an indoor one ;) Like I said I took the metro to work today which is almost like an adventure for me as I rarely take it! I took this photo at the Strasbourg Saint Denis station (a station that was opened to the public in 1908) where they have an odd partition between the two lines. You feel like you're spying on people on the other side while you're waiting for the train! The coming weekend will be cold again which is bad because I still have Christmas gifts to buy!

Wow! Fabulous composition! And I'm very glad to see that you're not on your scooter in the cold and snow!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo. I like how you captured the teeny sign at the bottom right of the guy getting zapped by a red lightning bolt.
ReplyDeleteLove this photo! This is one of your very best.

A striking photo. Very nice capture.
ReplyDeleteAh! Strasbourg-St.Denis is where I used to eat great indian food! memories, may be beautiful and then.......
ReplyDelete.. very interesting photo. It is almost as if one is looking at an LCD screen. Thank you Eric for adding a bit of pleasure to my day. Je vous remerci.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I 've not been here but it's fascinating that opening. Good one E. Stay warm.

Great photo - framed and dynamic all at the same time. I like the little third rail guy, too. I hope you can get your Christmas presents from spots right near the metro stops, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI think I just fell in love with this photo!! Parfait!! Merci, Eric!!
ReplyDeleteI love this photo and want to say thank you for all the wonderful photos all year that have brought good memories to my mind.
ReplyDeleteNot familiar with this metro station. What an amazing composition you've got here. Looks like a framed photo on the wall. Like you, I too have a few more gifts to buy. Je te dis merde! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this photo! It's so perfectly even.
ReplyDeleteReally makes us feel like we're there, spying ! Actually, the man to the left seems to be a tourist with a map in his hand trying to figure out all the metro line ;)
A very common scene in Paris.
Is it true that with the snow many services were closed in Paris, which made the metro a real adventure due to the crowd?
Great shot

Nice composition, Eric!
ReplyDeleteIn my countryside, where it swowed again during the night and this morning, no metro to keep warm ;-)
Fireplace, hot tea and warm woolen clothes...
Unfortunately, it's a week too early for a White Xmas!
Fab photo thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou could tour the passages for present shopping away from the weather.
Eric, of course it's a nice photo, but isn't it REALLY nice how nice everybody is? LOL Seriously, if the world were always this (sorry) nice, it would be a much better place.
ReplyDeleteThib, I bet you are having a lovely time down there. On my way to the airport this morning the "countryside" was actually much prettier than usual.
But...I've had enough snow and Metros. Give me the beach and surfboards.
This is a great shot. I'm so glad you took the metro to capture it for us.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent capture, Eric!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you framed your photo. It's really a lovely photo and it's a good thing you framed it.
ReplyDeleteI have only gone to the 10th arrondissement once and that was for your PDP party last May. It was very rainy but I still loved it. Remember the party was in "The Cork and Cavan" an Irish Pub on the bank of the Canal St Martin. I had only seen this neighborhood in films like Hotel du Nord. The lovely thing about this place is that it really hasn't changed much since the making of the film Hotel du Nord. I would like to go back to see this neighborhood again sunny, rainy, or in the snow. I think it is charming.
We were in this station and I took a very simular shot, but didn't get any people in it...which makes it a lot better. How much snow are we talking?
ReplyDeleteWe are now under a "Blizzard Warning" here in NY, predictions for 12-18 inches plus with 40 mile per hour winds. We just brought in the Christmas Tree, and will be decorating tommorow with (hopefully) a ton of snow outside!!!
Sean
I'm glad you liked this photo because I like it too, event though it's a little odd!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all nice messages, that's a little warmth in this cold weather!
@Monica "Is it true that with the snow many services were closed in Paris, which made the metro a real adventure due to the crowd?" No, not really I don't think so. But trains and planes have been delayed (the Eurostar even got stuck in the tunnel because of the cold!)
@Thib "Fireplace, hot tea and warm woolen clothes..." Cooooooooool! Sounds like a real winter, doesn't it?
@Jaq "You could tour the passages for present shopping away from the weathe" Actually that is what I do!
@Lois "Remember the party was in "The Cork and Cavan" an Irish Pub on the bank of the Canal St Martin" You bet I do! The 10th is probably the arrondissement that improved the most over the last 5 or 10 years.
@Eurostyle "How much snow are we talking?" Well not much really. Today there has been no snow and the roads are dry. Sunday morning we should have more snow but about 5 centimeters which is really not much (but enough to disorganize Paris, because we're not Quebec city nor NYC!)
Belated love from me as well! Museum worthy!
ReplyDeleteEric I read about the Eurostar.
ReplyDeleteAll around the world the weather's been causing huge problems.
Here most of the airports were closed because of the storm falling over the south. One big mess.
Fantastic shot, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI love this view through the arch.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
What a super catch. I love peeking at the people and seeing the man in motion. Frame within a frame goodness!
ReplyDeletei love this photograph
