Jumping off the Eiffel Tower
Sunday, May 30, 2010 Publié par Eric Tenin
Generally when people jump off the Eiffel Tower it is rarely to break a record and they don't have 100 000 spectators watching them. This guy - his name is Taïg Khris - did today! He jumped off the Eiffel Tower on Rollerblades from a height of 40 meters (44 yards) - roughly the 1st floor of the Eiffel Tower - and landed 10 meters (11 yards) lower (see the photo). Silly, meaningless, pointless... but very popular. The event was shown live on TV and the Champs de Mars was full of people. See also his Facebook page for more...

OMG—not in a million years and not for a million euros! Good for him and I'm glad he's still in one piece. And good for you for capturing this amazing photo!

Oh to be young and crazy. Thank God I am neither.

Actually Robin, he is not THAT young. He is 34! ANd he seems to be a real nice guy; I just saw this interview of him.

OMG you were there Eric. My eldest wanted to go and so did I ! But I was not able to stay with the eldest and give up the youngest to her own after her sport... Big dilemna... I should have set up an arrangment with you ;-) I immediately showed your post to my daughter who was glad to see the shot! She will watch your links tomorrow and is very thankful you gave them for she did not find them herself last afternoon. For the moment, she is just sleeping, as late as it already is !
Was it worthseeing? Congrats for your picture because it certainly went very very fast! Thanks!

That looks slightly scary, but I've done my share of what I would consider extreme stunts, so, sure, I might give it a try! Of course, I might have to learn how to rollerblade first.... LOL

I don't want to see that. Sorry . I want so see la Tour in all her splendor.......WITHOUT some nitwit rollerblading his way to a world record! I"m a Paris Purist......:) A PP? :)

Everybody likes to leave their mark on the universe, some perhaps prefer to leave a bigger smear than others. (No, I'm not referring to BP in the Gulf...don't get me started on that mess.) I am glad this fellow made it! I prefer my feet on the ground...but even then, I'm no Gene Kelly. Next, I suppose this thrill seeker will conquer Notre Dame...the gargoyle drop.
May 30, 2010 10:12:00 AM GMT+02:00
Good idea Coltrane! Notre Dame, not the Gulf. (Don't get me started either!)
Let's say he didn't make it, would you have photographed the mess from the Tenin perspective Eric?
May 30, 2010 2:10:00 PM GMT+02:00
LOL Michael.
What a crazy thing to do - but he's one brave guy though ;-)
Great shot Eric.

Why didn't I think of doing that? Great shot, merci Eric

Ça doit être tellement grisant de faire ça. Quelles sensations fortes j'imagine. Quand même 2 ans de préparation ;-) Wow. J'admire et ce garçon est vraiment sympa.

We are alway left asking, Why?

Taig Khris was one of the stars of French "Survivor" (Koh-Lanta, I think it's called). So this is what he does. The show is over now, but it was kind of fun to watch...and very different from American "Survivor."

About the Notre Dame gargoyle drop:
A guy applies for the job of ringing the bells. The priest says ok, show me that you can ring the bells. The guy runs into a bell face first, BONG, staggers back, falls out of the steeple to his death. On the street, a policeman asks: Anyone know this guy? No, says someone, but his face rings a bell.
The next week, another applicant shows up. He says he's the brother of the guy who died. The priest asks the new guy to show how he can do the job. The guy runs his head into the bell, BONG, staggers back, falls out of the steeple to his death. A policeman asks if anyone knows this guy. No, says somebody, but he's a dead ringer for his brother.

@ michael : EWWWW!!!
Now I forgot what I was going to say, lol!
Poor Mr. Eiffel must be rolling over in his grave by now. What are they going to think of next, I wonder, uh. Skating rinks, lights...

louis vuitton earliest inventions included the idea of designing luggage that was flat and could easily stack in railway carriages. The Louis Vuitton Dentelle business was formed in 1854 and luggage begins to give way to damier handbag designs.
