Standing in line at the Eiffel Tower
I had a very busy day today and did not have a single minute to take my "photo du jour". So I dug into my archives and found this photo that I kept aside for a day like today. I took it last time I went to the Eiffel Tower, from the first floor. It shows a tiny bit of the long line that people have to stand in before they can actually climb up the Tower. No wonder, there are about 7 million visitors per year there. And since 1889, almost 250 000 000 people visited our dear old iron lady. Have a nice Friday everyone, mine will be as hectic as today...

EIFFEL TOWER!
ReplyDeleteEIFFEL TOWER!!
EIFFEL TOWER!!!
I can see it, clear as day.
I love you, Eric Tenin.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm right there on the premier stage, looking down. It's intoxicating.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great photo! The shadow of the Tower, the snaky line of people. Just outstanding.
ReplyDeleteWhat great shadows. Suzy's right, Eric! I've never stood on the line, because the two times I went up we had a reservation at Altitude 95—some people will do anything to jump the queue! (Just kidding. It was very nice).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteA pigeon's perspective. Taking aim.... Truly though, amazing how you've trained those birds to go digital, Eric. Extremely impressive. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat perspective! It's nice to know that you're human, Eric, digging into your archives. : ) And, what a wonderful archive shot to share with us. Hope your Friday isn't too busy!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! Always love that Tenin perspective!
ReplyDeleteI love this perspective and that it is in black and white.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
It's wonderful, Eric! I've stood in that line and it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteIf it were up to me, I'd say you should feel free to use your archives more often.
WOW!! What a photo. And the shadow of the Iron Lady -- a double WOW!!! This photo is so sexy, romantic, and a little spooky? What's that all about -- I guess it's the Eric Tenin "style"?
ReplyDeleteOh Eric this is terrific. What a great shot. I do believe you've managed one that hasn't been taken a zillion times. I"ll go back soon and stand there and look up at her and smile! I've promised ET Suzy a gazillion shots. I can't help myself.

I 'm certain the photo rip off artists will want this one! They have a lot of yours you know.

Different layers of "grayness". Charmed!
ReplyDeleteI've reported them to Google, Virginia. I think what I'll do is keep reporting them at least once a day until that site is taken down. We all should. The url is http://photos.worldnw.com/
ReplyDeleteClick on "ads by google" at the top, then scroll down and you'll see "Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw." It's relatively clear from there.
Eric - this is such an intriguing photo. I really had to look several times to catch all of it.
ReplyDeleteVery well seen and done!:)
ReplyDeleteLike the colors and shadows too.
Wow Petrea, you weren't kidding. They didn't even bother to read one of the texts there from Seattle Daily Photo describing the problem!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to report, but not obvious. Do what Petrea said:
Go to:

It's relatively clear from there.
Sorry to take up space here Eric, but I think it's important that the CityDailyPhoto community is aware. In fact Petrea, it's a little more complicated than submitting the complaint.

There is a process for those of you who wish to report a copywrite infringement of your photos. It may take some time, but it seems worth it. Good luck everyone!
Such a lovely fresh take on it, Eric! Speaking for myself, I'm happy for you to dig into your archives whenever it pleases you ~ I'm just grateful for everything you do for us.
ReplyDeleteAs for that site infringing the copyrights of the Daily Photo bloggers, how lousy! I'm gobsmacked.
Great B&W photo.
ReplyDeleteThere's no doubt where this is, the shadow of the iron lace says it all.
When I go to the Eiffel Tower, I always climb the stairs - mainly because there's no queue there, but it's also a fantastic trip to the top.
How wonderful. Like a small segment of a human snake.
ReplyDeleteunless you come at 9:00 in the morning, you queue and queue...
ReplyDeleteThat's'another great thing about the Eiffel tower, lots of different angles, aspects and things to unveil.
ReplyDeleteOnly you Eric can make the iron lady so present in a photo without showing it!
I love yesterday's'photo as well - only didn't have the time to comment. ;)
I agree with all the others, your photo Eric is excellent. And I'm sharing what you wrote Monica. To be honest, I thought of that a few minutes before your comment.
ReplyDeleteThis is always very discouraging to wait for something, even for the Eiffel Tower and some of them might have given up. That's understandable. Tomorraow, there's going to have an Event from the first stage of the ET : a big 40 m jump... Impressive.
*there's going to be... Sorry, for all my mistakes.
ReplyDeleteNow that I enlarged the photo, I can see it clearly too.
ReplyDeleteThe shadow of the tower is just fantastic!
Even though a person might not immediately know what this without the caption, it could be the best photo your ever took. Very, very special!
ReplyDeleteOMG, how beautiful is this capture. I can feel physically, indeed, the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. It is almost like in a Hitchcock movie, isn't it ? Well for me, it is. ;-)
ReplyDelete@♥ Eiffel Tower Suzy ♥ -- You mentioned the other day that you have an interest in art nouveau posters. Did you know that there is a show opening on June 5th at the Legion of Honor in SF "Impressionist Paris: City of Light" which will be exhibiting 180 prints, photographs, paintings and POSTERS from the nouveau period and featuring artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Dubreuil, Seurat and Manet.
ReplyDeletePS: I was going to email you this but then I decided that the PDP gang might also be interested in this exhibit and info. :)
Tho I am in a rush, I just had to see if ET Suzy made it first today, what a laugh.
ReplyDeleteGreat b&w! So many details to look into.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked this photo because I really like it but hesitated before posting it.
ReplyDeleteSo let's see...Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame next? "It's monument week on PDP"
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous, Eric. I do so love black and white! And the lace of the shadows is just amazing. So cool...I just bought a sign of Paris to remind me that I need to save up for a trip sooner than soon!
ReplyDeleteShell--love the word "gobsmacked"!! Made me laugh!
Such a cool shot ... and perfect in black and white. : )
ReplyDeleteThis is simply brilliant, Eric. There is so much wonderfulness going on. . . the light and shadow, the graphic effect, your composition, the people themselves, the softness of the tower's shadow compared to the sharpness of the people's shadows, your perfect choice of black and white. I hope to have an opportunity to replicate aspects of this shot one day. Well seen and well done!
ReplyDelete-Kim
PS, would you please include this shot in your B&W calendar for 2011? Please!!!! :-)
ReplyDelete-K.
The site http://photos.worldnw.com/ not exist !
ReplyDeleteA week ago, when I was in Paris, I didn't climb the Eiffel Tower. There was a big queue and waiting time was about an hour!
ReplyDeleteI just admired it from the ground.....
