An evening in Québec!

First of all, thanks a million for all your nice comments yesterday; I've done my best to answer everyone, but I had to go to bed at some stage and I may have missed a few of you ;-) On a different note, last evening (Monday), I have been fortunate enough to be invited to the Théâtre du Rond Point des Champs Elysées to a very Québecois evening: a musical by René-Richard Cyr, based on a very famous play by Michel Tremblay called "Les Belles-soeurs". The whole Québec was there, including the 1st Minister, Jean Charest! A delightful moment in Canadian French which is always nice to hear (Canadian French is more or less the equivalent of American English compared to British English).

  1. "Canadian French is more or less the equivalent of American English compared to British English." So, in other words, it's bad French?

    Kidding, kidding. I got beat up over a blonde joke on FB so I maybe should back off. (It wasn't even my joke! I stole if from Garrison Keillor.)

  2. Did not know that Canadian French is different from French French - makes sense, but I'd never thought about it! I also love the little guy sitting on his rocket ;-)

    Eric, you are such a class act to have responded to everyone's posts!

  5. Belated congrats on your 7th anniversary, Eric! Going to your site in the morning is an excellent way to start the day, especially for someone who has been lucky enough to have lived in Paris for a while and who gets back from time to time but never often enough. I just have a tiny bone to pick with you -- Brits at least can understand American English; I know more than a few French who can understand only every other word of Quebecois French!

  6. What a festive photo.
    I would love to go to a theatre in Paris. But I never seem to get it planned ahead.

  7. Love the Quebecois (but find them a bit hard to understand, I'm afraid). Sounds like you had a great time, Eric.
    BTW, Jeff, I'd tread lightly around American women these days—we're feeling kinda prickly at the moment. :~}
