First ice cream of the year...

It's not summer yet, but it's already warm enough to think of having an ice cream in the sun. That's what a friend of mine had today at Amarino, a now rather famous Italian place that gives all its  ice cream the shape of a flower. A nice change from Berthillon and Häagen Dazs LOL! Come on people, it's time to pack your suitcase and to come to Paris...

  1. Yum! It's very pretty, but I still have thoughts of a cherry ice cream I had at Berthillon...

  14. Wish we could Eric!! It's starting to get warm in England too and all I want to do is be outside and enjoy the sunshine..

  15. Guess what? If you live in New York City, just go to Union Square where there is an Amorino. In this video, they even show you how they make the flower:

  16. I am a Hagan Daz whore, but Bertillion is so good, I even have the chocolate noir which I wouldn't normally touch. The salted caramel is to die for.
I never liked Amorino, but they make a great picture! I just found Grom, from Italy, here in Paris off rue de Buci. A total yum. They have one in NYC also.

All ice cream tastes good in Paris and the Amorino ones are so pretty.

Suitcase on standby just need the excuse of a pic nic!

    Enjoy the sunshine x

  19. Well - what a good photo Eric. Not an ice cream fan myself but my partner adores it _and I have flight tickets booked for Paris. Just checked out Amarino locations in Paris and it turns out I'm staying right next to one of their locations - so this will be the first treat my sweetie gets upon arrival. I like your focal length here btw @extradiagetic

  20. We had a snow storm yesterday so no ice cream for me just yet. Enjoy it!

  21. Amorino is the best in Paris!! (my opinion).
Can't wait to get back 2 Paris.
Maybe in April bet for sure in June for Fete de la Musique!

  22. That is SO cool!! I want to see how they make it.... Maybe video the technique??

  23. As a matter of fact, I am packing my carry on, as I am off to Paris tomorrow and I think there goes my diet...thanks Eric :)

  24. Wow, I should try the ice cream. Really sweet and delicious.

  25. Eric, a trip to Paris is in the works but I'm undecided about when to come? Unfortunately, hubby's work won't allow a spring trip and I fear that June will be too hot -- more expensive all around. I'm debating on waiting till the shoulder season in October. Any suggestions Fellow Paris Daily Photo fans?

  26. [edit] More than one of course! :)

  27. Oh, the suitcase is always half-packed, just in case . . . This ice cream looks so pretty—but unless they have caramel au sel de mer, I'm headed straight for Berthillon.

  28. And now I have to go check out Amorino in Union Square! By the way, here's a hyperlink to the Utube video Janet mentioned.

  29. Went to the one on E. 10th and University Place (NYC)--so delicious!
I didn't know Amarino existed until today! And it is 70 F today, so it ice cream was the perfect lunch! Thanks for the inspiring picture, Eric!

  30. Trishia--October is my favorite for Paris trips. And if you decide on Berthillon rather tan Amarino for your ice cream, the dark chocolate/orange flavor is..is..I can't find the word for how good it is.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That would be "rather THAN." Just thinking about that chocolate/orange Berthillon made my fingers all twitchy.

  32. Ah yes! I've had one of those on Rue Mouffetard. And I'll soon be packing my suitcase for this year's visit, but have to wait 'til May. . . Enjoy your sunshine and ice cream in the meantime, but wait for me . . .

  34. @Buzzgirl "but I still have thoughts of a cherry ice cream I had at Berthillon..." I agree, it's still worth the trip!

@Shell Sherree "This is SO pretty, and beautifully photographed, Eric." ;-))

@Jeff "You're eating ice cream and I'm eating my heart out." Awww, I'm sorry!

@Tomate "haagen dasz is nothing to sneeze at!! Really!! ;)" I must say I fell for one or two scoops from time to time...

@Kara "but we still have Summer here in Australia..." Yeah, but it's not going to last... OUr tunr to eat ice creams!!!

@Roniece "ooh I see your sweet tooth is showing again Eric! :-)" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

@Janet "Guess what? If you live in New York City, just go to Union Square where there is an Amorino" Wow, really? They really have done well.

@PHX2CDG "The salted caramel is to die for." I totally agree! Never tasted Grom...

@extradiagetic "and I have flight tickets booked for Paris" Lucky you!! Have a good trip and enjoy your ice cream upon arrival. Are you staying next to the one rue de Vavin?

@Monica "Seriously, I have no words to say that would even begin to express how thankful I am for knowing them!" Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! We feel the same about you Monica!

@Martin " I am off to Paris tomorrow and I think there goes my diet...thanks Eric :)" LOOOOOOL

@Trishia "and I fear that June will be too hot -" No, actually June can be pretty good. About the heat - or cold - you can never tell in Paris. It can cold in summer and "hot" in spring.

@Sunshine "Went to the one on E. 10th and University Place (NYC)--so delicious!
I didn't know Amarino existed until today!" The things your learn on PDP LOL (thank you PHX!)

    Now Alexa, it's your turn!

@Anne "I will be packing my bag for Paris, not for ice cream but for a visit with my 7 month old cute as a button grandson:)" Awww, that's sweet ;-) But you can have ice cream too LOL!

  37. I preparing for my first trip to Paris I found your site and this picture. I was so excited "even the ice cream cones are works of art in Paris" and showed all my friends. Our last day in Paris we actually stumbled up Amarino. My husband says I squealed and jumped up and down. I find that hard to believe but I was quite excited to enjoy an artfully designed Parisian ice cream cone.
