Pollution over Paris
There is a downside to the nice weather we're experiencing in Paris at the moment: pollution. Apparently the air quality has been bad for more than the acceptable amount of "bad days" per year and there is a serious health risk for the elderly. The authorities even recommend not to run nor to make any effort to minimize the air inhalation. Only positive aspect: it gives a nice little haze to the sun in photos and provides a good excuse not to go the gym and run LOL! Note to all CityDailyPhoto Blogger: while the portal is down (and I hope it'll be fixed soon), please refer to the nice page Julie (from Australia) made.

I love this great picture!! But the pollution is killing me! Cough cough. Sneeze sneze.
ReplyDeleteLike climate change, air pollution is an Obamyth.
ReplyDeleteMesmerizing
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to add, that this photo is a masterpiece (in my humble opinion).
ReplyDeleteThe pollution may be a downside, but you get the must stunning photo's because of it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link, Eric. People have followed it in droves. Let's hope we can provide an alternative whilst the technical team works away on the portal issues.
ReplyDeleteYes, pollution is a problem but it really isn't anything new. I remember my first trip to Paris as a youngster and marveling at the "Black" Notre Dame de Paris and the Opéra! Lovely, ethereal photo nonetheless! ;)
ReplyDeleteTonton has a point—when I got to Paris in the '60s, the Louvre was pitch black too. Sorry you have to breathe in less than pristine air, Eric—but it sure does make for a lovely sunset!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous picture Eric, it looks peaceful, serene and postcard worthy.
ReplyDeleteYes you're right Tonton and Alexa, I think Paris was much more polluted before - there were probably less cars, but we did not pay attention to the amount of exhaust fumes rejected at that time, and there was no unleaded gas then.
ReplyDeleteBut still, together with the pollen attack it's really not very pleasant!
Yes, it's hazy but still a very nice shot.
ReplyDeleteI do too remember pollution in paris. In the summer, I'd go out with open toe sandals and if I'd walk enough during the day, I'd come home at night and my feet were really dirty where they were not protected by the leather of the shoe. Fun times. :/
Unfortunately, us in Southern California can relate all too well. Not good to exercise outdoors in smog.
