I have never used the Paris metro as extensively as these past days and I must say, it's really convenient (especially when it's super cold!). For the first time in my life I even found myself on the platform of line 1, at Bastille! A stunning metro station overlooking the Port de l'Arsenal which is where several boats are docked (no, it did not remind me of Malta!). Add the sun to it, and you have a perfect next to last PDP photo ;-)
I've always enjoyed stopping at this station. It's so different from the others in the system and I remember how surprised I was disembarking there the first time.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe there's only one more photo to come. I will miss PDP so much. It has truly enhanced my life. Merci, Eric.
And it looks like I would have had the pleas of winning GF today...
Go ahead and wear your crown Justine!
DeleteStunning! I second Justine--I will also miss PDP so much. Thank you for so many years of daily Paris, and the chance to meet, if only virtually, so many wonderful folks.
ReplyDelete"next to last PDP photo" puts a lump in my throat.
ReplyDeleteAgreed 100 + %!
DeleteIt will be the end of a beautiful era - one that took me away from my dreadful gray office cubicle and back to my beloved Paris. I can hardly believe we've reached the end of this lovely road. Many thanks for all the little smiles, some oohs & ahs, and even a few audible gasps over the years. You have been a treasure to us. Best wishes to you, Eric, in all that you do.
DeleteArgh! Next to last photo. I'm so lucky to have finally met you. (I think I found you through Petite Anglaise--long gone these many years--but I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteWas just here at this station in September andthis is just how I remember it. I'm away and haven't been comenting every day -- but you know I'll be here tomorrow (sad, but here)!
ReplyDeleteStunning shot!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely miss your Paris photos. Malta would be a welcome new touch, even if not every day!
Wonderful shot of it.
ReplyDeleteI have just read this comment attributed to you ( November 2006 )
ReplyDeleteIS this what we can expect
If you suddenly could only post one last photo on Paris Daily Photo, what would it be?
The Statue of Liberty in Paris on the ile de Cygnes in the 15th. Also, one of the entrance signs to Paris that are on the roads entering the city.
I have thoroughly enjoyed PDP and will miss my daily visit to you site! Here' wishing you well in your new enviroment
Prisoner Tenin, you have served your sentence. Tomorrow you will be a free man. Go forth into the outside world with a clear conscience and remember not to make the same mistake again. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe usually stay in the Bastille/Marais area when we visit Paris, so I have often stood on this metro platform. It brings back so many happy memories of my visits to Paris (13 so far).
Thanks Eric!
"Prisoner Tenin, you have served your sentence. Tomorrow you will be a free man. Go forth into the outside world with a clear conscience and remember not to make the same mistake again. :-)" You are SO right!!
DeleteThank You so very much Eric for your wonderful photos! It's been many years since I've last been to Paris; your photography and petit mots have helped make that time seem shorter.
ReplyDeleteMerci!

I cannot tell you how much I will miss my daily fix of PDP! I am sure you are moving on to bigger and better things, but your absence leaves a big hole in my day. I have so enjoyed your photos and accompanying posts over the years (is it possible that I have been following you since 2006? that is when I made my first trip to Paris!) Will someone continue to post a Daily Photo from Paris? Will you begin a Malta Daily Photo? Wherever life takes you, I wish you all the best!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful sunny photo. Can't wait to see it for myself -- soon! Thank you for fueling my dreams of Paris for the past several years... they are coming true in 9 short months! SO excited!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sunny photo to leave me feeling so melancholy. But I am so very happy for you! Happy New Year and happy life!
ReplyDeleteInfinite thanks, Eric, for the precious peeks into Paris that you have given us for so many years (I'm pretty sure I've looked at every single one). Warm wishes for a happy, adventuresome 2015.
ReplyDeleteAfter more than 10 years I will finally return to Paris for my second visit . And this time I will have my daughter with me. Thanks to you Eric, I feel I know the city quite well. It is with mixed feelings that I wait for your last post. Many blessings to you Eric. You have brought much good to so many people around the world. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a captivating photo! I haven't been on this platform before, but I have walked past it from the area above when en route to La Promenade Plantee and beyond.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed that you've managed to continue posting photos through packing, moving, and the holiday rush. Well done and many, many thanks for sharing your view with us all these years. I'm so very sorry that I missed that last PDP picnic (I can't believe that I had a conflicting engagement while in Paris this year!), but perhaps there will be one more gathering ...
Merci mille fois. Il faut bien partir maintenant :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwwww. You're all so sweet! Thank you so much. I hope you will enjoy the last photo...
ReplyDeleteJustine, Drummond, Mai, Lynn, Guille, Eric, Michael, Rose, Michel, Petrea, Stephan, Lois, Anna, Marie, Arnaud, Ronice, and these are only the names that tumble immediately from my list of people I've met because of PDP, either in Paris or elsewhere. I'll check my photos and my notebook for more!
