Winter sun

In Winter (and not only in winter!) the sky is often grey in Paris. It does not necessarily rain, but it's often covered. And then, one day, out of nowhere, you wake up to a blue sunny day, like yesterday (2 days ago actually), when I took this photo near Bercy in the 12th arrondissement. Easy shot, of course, but once in a while it does not hurt ;-) The bridge in the background is the Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, the latest one that was built over the Seine

  4. She really deserved to be honored like this, and I love the way you caught the lone woman crossing here.
When I lived in Paris in the '60s I used to see her in my St. Germain neighborhood with Sartre—usually at the Flore or Deux Magots. They always looked like they were together in their own world.

  6. The secret is in the SHADES of GREY you take for your shot... I love my English friends 'mist photos' and I absolutely hate fog!
Nice and lovely capture - and of course, silhouettes always do me good!

  7. Burnished silver and liquid golden rays...with the elegant fretwork of the bridges and the lone figure crossing....just lovely and contemplative. Than you for this, Eric.

  9. I like this tres belle photo with its layers of grey, its golden glints, its brown higlights, the shadows, the lone woman, the sunshine on the water, the shades of grey, the burnished silver, the golden rays and the wonder and beauty of it all.

I think that just about sums it up.

  11. Thank you Drummond for you've just said what I wish I could have done myself! But words did lack me!

@Alexa : I like : "They always looked like they were together in their own world"!!! Isn't this an evocative picture for illustrating a "just-before-a-date woman, crossing a bridge"? Maybe Simone did as well, before meeting Sartre, on her way to him...
Maybe this is what our woman was doing here too (unless she was merely walking to her office...). I wish her the first idea... !

  12. Lovely photo. Wish we had a few of the "passerelles" in my area of the world. Then again, maybe we do ...... I'll have to check that out. Just recently discovered your blog and now it's one of my daily favorites. Great stuff!
