I know some of you think I spend my evenings going from one fancy place to another, but in fact I don't! Far from that, whenever I need to organize a dinner party outside in a restaurant, I never know where to go... Last evening, I was recommended to go to Le Bistrot Vivienne, a restaurant adjacent to the famous Galerie Vivienne and I did not regret it! The place is very very nicely decorated and the food is super good. I had fish and café gourmand (yes, again!) and I spent a nice evening surrounded with friends... Do pay the place a visit if you come to Paris.

I first discovered the beautiful Galerie Vivienne a few years back when I was being a geeky tourist trying to find the restaurant Le Grand Colbert (from the movie "Something's Gotta Give"). That restaurant is attached to the Gallerie Vivienne and while very old-school Parisian-looking and beautiful inside, wasn't very yummy as it turned out. So, I am so glad to know there is a yummy place to eat for the next time I go back. Merci, Eric - this place looks cozy.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Eric! I would never think to go there, but now I will (in time). @ monnica, ha, ha, I "had" to watch "Something's Gotta Give" three times on "invitation." But, it had a charming quality (and Paris!).
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, and reasonable prices. I'll have the sea bass and risotto, followed by a cafe gourmand for my imaginary Paris dinner.
ReplyDeleteI'll have Jean Dujardin for my imaginary Paris dinner!
ReplyDeleteI give the same review of Le Grand Colbert, as you, Monnica. Will be going to a lecture nearby tomorrow and will try to fit in this Place. Have dinner at Chateaubriand so don't want to get too stuffed. I hate waddiling back to America.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming spot, Eric! I love the decor. PHX, sip some champagne for me, s'il vous plait.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed browsing your photos. You have a good eye for the angle of the shot. Brought back pleasant memories of my visit there! Merci.
ReplyDeleteYou've a very steady hand in photography specially when taking pictures which requires technical skills. This is an incredible shot!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great shot. I love the way that we can see more of the restaurant in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed that "Le Grand Colbert" are getting bad reviews. It has been on my to go list forever, but now I'm not so sure if I wanna go there.
What a beautiful place and shot. Will have to remember the name.
ReplyDeleteOoh, the light. What a gorgeous shot AND they have cafe gourmand. A "must visit" for me! :)
ReplyDeleteThis place looks so inviting, and the menu as well. I'll have the steak tartare—or maybe PHX (i.e. lucky dog) will try it for me. :~}
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! I'm somewhat surprised that M Passage doesn't already know all the restaurants in all the passages. It must have been fun to learn another one. Thanks for the info on Le Grand Colbert, folks. It's very pretty, but if the food is so blah, I'll not visit. Le Bistrot Vivienne replaces it on the list.
ReplyDeleteGood to know. We almost had lunch there but thought it a bit pricey. Next trip I'll go with you guys and let you pick up the tab! LOL

ingenious photo angle -- pure "Eric" all the way:) Merci beaucoup!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo Eric!
ReplyDelete@Trishia "ingenious photo angle -- pure "Eric" all the way:) Merci beaucoup!"
ReplyDelete@Virginia "Good to know. We almost had lunch there but thought it a bit pricey. " Well, let's say it's not chepa, but it's not outrageous. We were 5, had one bottle of wine (only one) and 3 courses and we paid 50 € each.
@Jeff "Great photo! I'm somewhat surprised that M Passage doesn't already know all the restaurants in all the passages." LOL! Far from that Jeff, far from that...
@Bettina "This is such a great shot. I love the way that we can see more of the restaurant in the mirror." Thnaks ;-) And... about the Grand Colbert, I don't really agree. I went there a couple of times and it was really OK. A bit touristy, maybe...
@Online... "You've a very steady hand in photography specially when taking pictures which requires technical skills. This is an incredible shot!" Wow, this has got to be spam LOL!
@Susan. Merci ;-)
@Anonymous "I'll have Jean Dujardin for my imaginary Paris dinner!" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
I am trying hard to get back in but have not been able so far. I have the information on my blog and it links properly but the posts don't show up.
ReplyDeleteAs you know my old blog was hacked and I lost a lot of stuff including my blog that was registered here. So this is a new one,
http://brookvilledailyphotoposts.blogspot.com/
Is there something you can do to get my stuff to show up again.
Thanks.
Abe Lincoln
Menu looks great. And by all means--Jean Dujardin as dinner date as, at long last, I seem to be headed that way this fall!
