Back to work

Yeah, yeah, everybody wished you a happy new year, you partied, had fun, etc. And now, lo and behold, it's time to go back to your cubicle, just like last Friday! So, what is so happy and different this year?! I thought a photo of la Défense, where many people will be returning to work this Monday, was an appropriate one.

  6. gg....where is la Croix du Christ or l'Eglise de La Défense? Is this a joke or for real?

  7. No no Michael, it's not a joke : the chuch is right in the middle of the picture, near the cnit. You can see a large grey wall, just above the street lights (in front of the EDF tower) and recognise a white cross designed on it.

  10. Yep, it is time to get back to work... One of the first things I do when I power up my computer in the morning is to check the new Paris Daily pic of the day. It puts me in a better mood, and then I'm ready to start the day :-)

(By the way, I don't remember this church in the middle of La Defense? Was it built some time in the last 20 years?)

    Great shot, as usual, Eric.

  11. Hello Tomate Farcie.
Yes, it's been built in year 2000 and is officially called "Notre-Dame de Pentecôte, Maison d'Eglise à La Défense". I don't remember why this silly "Maison d'Eglise" instead of just Eglise, but you certainly remember this weird habit we have to use euphemisms to call things we don't dare to name !
    ;o)

  12. Thanks GG. Maison d'eglise? Indeed!

That reminds me of a beauty product I once looked at, at Macys in the States, a while back. But I still remember it because it had both a French and US/English label on it that made me laugh... on the French side, it had at least 3 round-about sentences explaining why and how this particular cream would enhance the natural beauty of blah, blah, blah, blah... On the US/English side, it just said "wrinkle cream."

Last time I saw La Defense, I hardly recognized it; they added so much to it!
