Olympia Music Hall

It's funny how some theaters have a special atmosphere that no larger/newer/more modern places will ever have. That is definitely the case with L'Olympia, the oldest Music Hall in Paris. Created in 1888 by Joseph Oller (the same founder of Le Moulin Rouge) here you can actually see and listen to the artists on stage and not watch them on giant screens... All the famous French (Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour... and international artists (Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Celine Dion... have appeared at least once at the Olympia. I saw Sting there last year.

P.S. Thanks for the promotion Michael! For those of you who missed it below, you can vote for my blog at http://2006.bloggies.com/ in one of those silly Web Logs of the Year awards! *blush*

OK, to the risk of looking like an idiot, who is this Laurent Gerra guy, is he like a celebrity or something?!

...came to you by way of another photo blog. :)

  8. Eric, you get my vote, too. Mind you, have you noticed that the UK is in a separate category so London Daily Photo can coexist happily with Paris? Rather telling, that is the way that the UK/Europe relationship is seen from the US.... (I've put a link to bloggies for Paris Daily on mine, as well)

Sure wish I could have seen Edith Piaf at the Olympia.
