Theme day : street light or sign

I returned just on time to take a photo for this month's theme day (a street light a sign). Since I already posted a traffic light recently, I chose a sign for today. And I didn't choose just any sign but the one on place Molière (you can see his statue in the background) in the 1st arrondissement. On the blue sign it says "no two wheel vehicle parking on the sidewalk". Yeah, right... You should see the number of scooters and motorbikes parked there, LOL?!

This month 105 City Daily Photo blogs participate in this theme day. Do pay them a visit but remember that due to time difference you might not see the proper photo. If you want to have a global view, check the City Daily Photo portal:

  1. I wonder what other kinds of signs the bloggers will post. Wish we could be among the first sometime, too (she whines!). Have a good week-end, Eric.

  3. Lovely! Mine wont be up until I get home from class. Still probably a bit before midnight, but anyone who's visiting St. Louis DP (St., not Saint) you'll have to wait a few hours for mine! It comes witha bit of local history!

  5. If they can't park there, where else can they park? hehe...

(i guess the proper parking spaces provided, but it will be too far right?)

  6. How appropriate it is that this sign is under this statue. I believe it was Molière who said,

"Plus grand est l'obstacle, et plus grande est la gloire de le surmonter"

“The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.”

  7. Does that mean 4-wheel vehicles can park there?? :-)

  8. Is it in rue de Richelieu? If so I like this place and around...
The mix of sign and statue is really awkward, I never got them both in my sight at the same time... Eric, you really see things I just do not when I hit the ground... Isn't that talent?

  9. I am always confused when I see a text under the signs being abroad. Who knows what is written there? without your translation I might think: if you enter this street we will cut your head...twice:)

  12. I saw a blog yesterday that had a 1 minute film showing a handicapped guy in a wheel chair trying to get past a car that was parked on the sidewalk. It might have been contrived but the message was clear. He had no legs. He crawled up on the hood, lifted the folded wheelchair up,put it down on the other side, and slid into the wheelchair. If more people saw this they would think twice about parking on the sidewalks. However, I asked myself, "Why didn't he just wheel onto the street and go around the car?" Hmmmmmm

  17. It is funny Eric. I am guessing that the street sign is less intriguing to us Americans than Moliere. I'm not too sure that many of us yanks even know who he is.

  19. LOL. I stood right there and shot Moliere just a few months ago. We were on our way to E. Dehillerin to buy copper stuff. I do recall lots of scooters parked around there, bikes, too.

  20. It certainly appears the statue is holding the sign.
