Le dîner en blanc 2009
Like last year, and the year before I went to the white dinner party (Le dîner en blanc), only this year I was too tired to do the whole thing, I just went to take photos. It took place at La Concorde, a dream place to be having dinner outside in Paris. Like always there were a lot of people and the atmosphere was really good and very chic ;-). I took a zillion photos, of course. I gathered my 34 favorite ones in a little Animoto that you can watch here. BTW, this masked gentleman is Nicolas Mazet and he his an art gallery owner in the 8th arrondissement.

Perfect choice for photo du jour! I love all the incredible hats, wigs and other fashion choices. What a fun group!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzy ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat expression on his face! This is the sort of event that I'd love to stumble upon while visiting Paris. As usual, a wonderful daily dose of magic right here on PDP.
ReplyDeleteI love the white dinner party idea. Looks so much fun and this chap is enjoying himself. I'm popping into the animoto now.......:)
ReplyDeleteAh, you've brought a little summer into the gray New England week. The white and the summer hats, and the sparklers and white flowers give me hint of summer to come (hopefully!).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eric
Wow that was fab. Adore the lady's huge white hat with the daisies on.
ReplyDeleteSo - Paris Daily Photo; Your daily dose of Paris. The new slogan huh? Like it!
I don't take that "daily dose" for granted either. The withdrawal from even one missed dose is excruciating!
ReplyDeleteLOL Suzy. Yes Lynn, I've been using this slogan in my Animotos for a couple of months and I think I'll sue it for good in the new layout of PDP if I ever find the strength to work on it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one, Eric.
ReplyDeleteI really must get to the white dinner party one day. I wonder if we could have a PDP table there one year?
I think I'll put loads of white daisies on my GF crown today.
ReplyDeleteThis dinner party is a Cocteau moment. Loved the Animoto. Thanks, Eric for letting us into your magical world.

ReplyDeleteYikes -- can you read between the typos? I won't even attempt to reveal what I MEANT to say!! (Too busy laughing at what I actually wrote)
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats, GF Suzy—wish we'd both been here, avec Eric!
Does one have to be invited to this, Eric? It seems so special. I love the photo and the animoto. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh I missed it. I was just over there yesterday too. I guess I was there too early.
ReplyDeletejust watched the animoto on facebook..that was awesome. I need to find my "inner summer"...LOL..
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous animoto you made Eric, late in the night...
ReplyDeleteWOW this smile is mine, right now :))))
Love it, like all.
Very good soundtracks.
White and New are often associated. As your great photos (indeed) show it, White does not mean cold but joyfully alive and able to grow by itself!
Crikey Alexa, looks like you had a white dinner all of your own! That was funny.
ReplyDeleteSuzy love your crown tonight!
By the way is the shock of white hair his own or a wig?
I think Nocolas should try out for Santa Clause over here. He would make a great one to be sure. I liked the video of the white dinner party as well.

Oh, the gorgeousness cup runneth over today! How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy 40th ibrthday aprty was na all-whtie gardne aprty. {How'd I do, Alexa ... did I crack the D'Alexa Code? Well, you did crack me up. Too cute!!!}
ET Suzy, Yayyy! Congrats, GF and a beautiful crown.
I look forward to your photos of this annual event and as usual you did not disappoint.
ReplyDeleteShell: LOL about the D'Alexa Code.
Alexa: What can I say? You are the best!
holy moly Eric....what can't you do. i loved your choice of music on the video (my son is still dancing to it) and all those shots were awesome. i bet you are a good cook too (of course when you have time).
ReplyDeleteAnd at what time did they know where the white dinner really took place?
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! Wonderful shots. I'll be there next Tuesday, wooow, can't wait!!!!!!!!
lynn, shell, from cali- :~} (it would be funny if
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a copy editor.)
Just looked at the animoto—wow, quel super souper!
Eric, you're the best.
Oh I missed it cause I took the weekend to visit Rose here in the US. I'm glad the weather was good so that people could enjoy the outdoor diner.
ReplyDeleteWe were saying how fantastic it is that PDP brings people together and that is how we got to be friends. Although we' re both from Brazil I don' t think we' d had the chance to meet if it wasn't for PDP!!!
I think you mean Rose in the UK, right? In Canterbury (not London)?
ReplyDeleteI think it's fabulous that you two "southerners" got to meet in person.
Alexa that just makes it funnier! Especially for me, who has had to suffer perfectly good text being changed by subs here for no apparent reason in UK newspapers LOL... har har. Er...sorry. My glee kind of slipped out there :)
ReplyDeleteAlexa "Eric, you're the best." OK, you made my day!! ;)
ReplyDeleteMaria "i bet you are a good cook too (of course when you have time)." er, how can I say... I'm a good customer of ...
ReplyDeleteSo this is where Andy Warhol has been hiding! ;-) Another fine Parisian moment caught on camera. Nice work with the Egyptian obelisk in the background too! "Merci Eric"...(BTW whenever I type those two words I always think I'm typing a pseudo-palindrome.)
ReplyDeleteFunny Coltrane, I never thought of that.
ReplyDeleteLooks like real fun, the picture and the Animoto are great. Thanks once again Eric.
ReplyDeletethanks! Finally I found out what this mystery event is about :-) I was on the Champs Elysées last year when it happened... I stood by totally fascinated for a few minutes. Hope it was as much fun as it seemed to have been last year!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Germany
what a magical event!
ReplyDeleteYes it's such nice place there, you are lucky guys.
ReplyDeletethank you for your post
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely new to your sight and I thank you for it, for capturing that light in the sky that is only seen in Paris. I am going to have Le Diner en Blanc at my friend's large house. What a ball. I wish I had an apartment there I could go and visit often. You give me that breath of the most fabulous city in the world!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eric...I am forever a fan!
