Open air Opera at Le Sénat
Call me lucky because I'm just back from the Luxembourg gardens where I attended a unique performance of Rigoletto (an opera by Verdi, with this famous aria, I'm sure you know). Every year for the past 9 years, between June and September, Le Sénat (the Senate), welcomes l'Opéra en plein air (the open air opera). The weather was great and the performance stunning. I'm very grateful to my neighbour who gave me these tickets to thank me for helping her out with her computer ;-)

That must have been a great evening, Eric ! This photo presque noire et blanche is great.
ReplyDeleteRigoletto will be in Chambord mid-September. I'll do my best to be there...
You're back from Rigoletto, uploading your photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm back from Jazzin'Cheverny (again !, also uploading my photos...
Musical nights are great nights ;-)
In must be fantastic in Chambord too. But next time I want to try Vault-Le-Vicomte.
ReplyDeleteWow you two had great musical evenings! Hey Thib GF! So what's on your crown? :)
ReplyDeleteLike the line up photo Eric. Good that photos were allowed.
What a lovely neighbour you have, and are to her too.
Looks like and sounds like you had a wonderful evening. We are having wonderful weather here in Las Vegas but not for long it will be very hot!
ReplyDeleteThe open air opera...
ReplyDeleteLuxembourg gardens, the opera {I love Verdi} and Paris. Geez Eric how lucky can a guy get. Lol
Lucky, lucky you Eric! I remember our walk through the gardens past the Senate building :)
ReplyDeleteWOW. That sounds really great! A superbe idea and a fine weather to match with! Lucky you and I'm very glad for you.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbour seems to know how to please you!!
I'm envious ;)
I remember Thérèse. That was nice of her. Nice of you, too. Opera tickets are expensive in L.A., so if they're a similar price in Paris you were well paid!
ReplyDeleteVERY NICE B&W suits. A lot of variation. I don't think two are alike. And the men are all so handsome. You really captured a nice shot. So, if they sound anything like they look, it had to be marvelous, fabulous, just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to enjoy summer. I have not yet been able to do so other than dinner in my back yard--which is not an unpleasant experience with such a great chef making the meal!
ReplyDeleteBut I have not taken advantage of such things as outdoor concerts. An opera at Jardin de Luxembourg would be fabulous. I need to get a life!
Ah, Vaux-le-Vicomte. One cannot help but be pleased that musical theater yet continues there in the footsteps of Molière.
ReplyDeleteDoes your neighbour needs anything else fixed?
ReplyDeleteIf so, pleeeeeeaaase let me know; I adore opera
Lucky!!! Okay, I said that because you requested it. However, my honest opinion is that you deserve good things that come your way, Eric. Obviously, Therese also knows how to spot a good neighbor! ;) Please give her a hello from Nashville.
ReplyDeleteRigoletto AND Luxembourg?!? I'd be content to see either one, but the combination sounds (and looks!) divine indeed!
I never knew you had such esteemed relatives, Tall Gary, such a strong famiy resemblance! Can't wait to see who else is in your family line. I also didn't know that Josephine was the primogenitor of so many Royal families in Europe, till yesterday ( at Malmaison).
ReplyDeleteI saw the price of the Rigoletto tkts on a brochure--yes, you have a VERY NICE neighbor! Thanks for including your fans in your evening. I can almost hear the music.....
P.S. Our guide said Josephine's real name was Rose, to all our Rose's out there. Napoleon started to call her Josephine when she was 33.
ReplyDeleteWell, on my crown today : an Aria of Verdi, and a pair of drums sticks ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know it's a strange mix, but I love both Opera and Jazz...
... and a Josephine, ...oups, sorry, a rose ;-))
I attended "Le Barbier de Seville" 2 years ago, in the Luxembourg gardens. That was magic! But it was much colder than yesterday evening, and we had rain... fortunately, only 15 minutes, during the entr'acte, so no problem for the show ;-)
More open air music ~ and how kind and thoughtful your Thérèse is!
ReplyDeleteThib, congrats GF! Cool crown. I'm sure Coltrane will approve, if he can see over the mound of tissues. {Hopefully the mound is shrinking!}
Salut Eric! Le foto de l'opera est un cadeau pour moi qui celebre un anniversaire aujourd'hui! Merci bien! Bonjour d'EAGAN daily photo
ReplyDeleteYes, Shell, my crown is a "clin d'oeil" to Coltrane !
ReplyDeleteBut it's also a (small and modest) tribute to the 2 drummers who played at Cheverny yesterday : first the French lady Julie Saury, and then the NewYorker Bruce Cox. I'm sure these names will ring a bell to Coltrane's ears ;-))
I remember your favourite neighbour Théresè, how very nice of her to "pay" you with these tickets.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a fantastic evening that must have been.
Great shot of these handsome singing men.
Very lucky indeed !
ReplyDeleteLucky?! More than that! I would have loved to see/hear that. Thanks Thérèse! You have a terrific neighbour.
ReplyDeleteIs that le salut final that you shot? (don't know how to say that in English). A great bunch of men! :D
BTW...Happy bday Sue!!
Ah, yes, the lovely Terese. What a nice thing for her to do. Lucky you, Eric.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on GF, Thib.
Just returned from the Internet-less country to find that Blogger had not let me post ahead. I'm bummed, because it's the one-year anniversary of my little blog!
Just a year, and I'm more in awe of you than ever, Eric!
It must have been wonderful to see it! If I had spent the weekend in Paris I would definetely had bought the tickets to go, Jardin de Luxembourg is just a few steps from my hotel.
ReplyDeleteOh well, you can't have it all!
;)
I would have loved this evening!
ReplyDeleteAlexa, I'd be bummed too! Congratulations and happy first anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThey look so handsome, Eric, I bet it was a great listen too.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see Rigoletto performing tonight at Parc de Sceaux. Will think of you :)))
ReplyDeleteI spent a wonderful evening yesterday. Que c'est beau... un opéra en plein air. The weather was fine, my day-to-day life was far and you were in my mind.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love to live those moments.
Hmmm GREAT.
