Typical Paris Skyline
Last evening I helped a friend to pack a few things before his removal. He lives by the Square des Epinettes, a public garden located in the 17th arrondissement. When I saw the view he can enjoy from his apartment (he lives on the last floor of a 7 story building) I grabbed my camera and shot! As you can see all these buildings have different shapes and sizes and their facades are much more simple than Haussmanian style buildings that were built after these ones.

What a beautiful skyline! The buildings are so typical Paris, but that blue blue sky looks a little too blue for typical Paris sky. I hope you have great weather for a while!
ReplyDeleteWait—your friend was leaving this fabulous view??
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you a good friend to help him pack.
And I see you're still having great weather. Good!
Hey, Katie—GF! You must have flying digits!
ReplyDeleteAlexa " Wait—your friend was leaving this fabulous view??" Shame isn't? He has to, for health reasons unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteLovely view. Good for sitting and watching life go by.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you mean by "removal," but I do hope your friend is all right! Please extend my love to him. Any friend of yours is certainly a friend of mine. XO
What a great blue sky! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a naif poster I have of Paris. (It's packed away somewhere at the moment.) Lovely view, but if there's no elevator, count me out.
ReplyDeletewhen i first moved to paris, i lived in a chambre de bonne it was the best view ever. i can see quite a few of these in this foto. ahhhh how i miss it.
ReplyDelete"Before his removal" sounds ominous! Lovely blue sky, and the skyline reminds of why I love living in the city.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound ominous (Hi Buzzgirl!) lol. Suzy what he means is moving house of course! he he. Eric it was kind of you to help; it's a horrible job, packing.
ReplyDeleteImagine having to leave this view! So interesting to look at, it's a wonderful photo Eric and I like the blue 'thirds' composition.
I didn't think this was Paris! So much for what I know!!!
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeleteChambre de Bonne, LOL!!! Me too, that's my logement back in college days.
My wounded soul now prefers anything by the Parc, say Wagram / Monceau.

Lynn,
ReplyDeleteWhat's this thing you have against cats? You had me laughing all morning on Twitter. I know it wasn't suppose to be funny, but it was. Sorry. LOL
TweetsZoe
Great Photo reminds a little of Spain.
Catch you on Twitter Lynn!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear why your friend had to leave this vista. Hope he found something great—on a lower floor!
ReplyDeleteAlmost took a chambre de bonne when I lived to Paris, but wound up sharing with others in the heart
of St. Germain—much better (even if my room was the former dining room, and you had to go through it to get to the kitchen, bath, or bedroom!).
Buzzgirl? Who's this Buzzgirl person...oh, yeah...way back...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.
Great view.
My best wishes to ton ami.

ReplyDeleteAnonyme,
I'm Anonyme @ 3:17 a.m. & 1:39 p.m. I wish your once wounded soul is now recovered from all those bruises. And I hope I didn't mislead you to interpret me as someone else. My apologies to confuse, that's totally NOT my intention.
Prends soin de toi, ma petite puce adorée.
Keats
Oh yeah...On the skyline! I'm something of a free spirit. It hurts when my window reaches out to urban habitats.
ReplyDeleteLa vie est plus belle quand on l'écrit soi-même, methinks.

Eric,
ReplyDeleteI really like the picture you took at the Yves Saint Laurent / Pierre Bergé Auction on 21 February 2009. I named it "Angel's Smile Upon the Earth."
FYI, I used to work with Christie's, and had the opportunity to meet M. Francois Pinault in person on X'mas. He has a touch of fine gentlemanship, like you.
Does Nice please you as much as Square des Epinettes or she simply stings?

ReplyDeleteKeats,
I did not make any comment on {17 juin 2009}. Someone is playing games with you. It is not my style.
My Style is... like Coltrane and Miles playing beautiful music together. Those comments had no flowing rhythm to tempt or make a body want to sway.
Jake use to say " Good Jazz is a wholesome tonic". What he meant was life should be like a great music, a great meal, great sex and a good friend. And if your lucky you find the girl of your dreams too. And you don't blow it. ~ Jake's Girl
It's my B'Day and I plan to party all night and not come home until the sun also rises...
ReplyDeleteJoyeux Anniversaire, Anonyme V.
ReplyDeleteV for Vendetta ? Don't party too hard, my dear!
A round of Champagne Krug on me, Monsieur.

Oh yeah...I master both languages i.e. masculine & feminine. ROFL!!

Anonyme,
ReplyDeleteNote taken!
"...life should be like a great music, a great meal, a great sex and a good friend."
I just met someone who plays cello, enjoys fine food, and rather provocative "In Between the Sheets". S/he is also a potential soulmate. Well, we both write, but in different languages.
Am I going to blow it? Hopefully not!
p.s. Thanks for dropping by! Glad you're NOT anonyme @ 4:06 p.m. 17 juin 2009

Great photo. The Paris I fell in love with was Hausmann style, but the more I visit, the more I like the older buildings too. Thanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. - you have some dust specks in the sky. Time to clean the image sensor :)
I so enjoy looking at every photo you take! What a beautiful view!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent view! Thanks, Eric, for capturing it for us. I love the sunlight on the buildings with the clear blue sky forming a rich backdrop.
ReplyDeleteNever oh never would I have thought this was Paris.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to your usual mildly air-polluted soft blue skies? Yesterday wasn't a pedestrian-only day, was it?
Beautiful anyway, but totally a-typical. Or else I'd move back to Paris tomorrow! As it stands, I'll stay in Avignon.
PS - I'm really pleased, Avignon In Photos has been chosen as Blog of Note today :-)))
Wow, what a fantastic BLUE sky, and what a view! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThere were so many interesting details to see, (when I clicked and enlarged the photo....)
I do like the tall french windows/doors.... Stylish!
Eric
ReplyDeleteA very nice shot, taken at the perfect time of day.
1) To Natalie re: blog of note, you TOTALLY deserve it! Enjoy your increased traffic and lots of compliments ;)
ReplyDelete2) Buzzgirl is back?!!! Hey, welcome back!! As you can see, things are pretty much the same around here :)
3) last but not least to Eric: you say "these buildings have different shapes and sizes" yet they're all pretty much the same height and from where I'm sitting right now, they all look highly similar.
I love your Paris skyline, thank you. One of the things I photograph the most in Paris (because it's so typical) is the Paris rooftops. It has a charming, unique look.
Thank you for that shot. Hope the Summer is going quite well in Paris right now.
Keats,
ReplyDeleteOne last letter {email} for you today.
Good lucky to you.
Not trying to be rude on purpose or anything, but if these Anyonyme characters would please pick a profile or a nickname and stick to it, that would make it easier for the rest of us to follow (or ignore) your comments.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin' :)
Anonyme,
ReplyDeletePDP, indeed, is the place to see & be seen.
In just a moment, I'll be off to opera.
Stay tuned,
Keats
p.s. Comment te dire adieu?
Tomate,
ReplyDeleteI always acknowledge my post with "Keats" or "Anonyme K".
You can ignore me, si tu veux.

This late afternoon sun is my favorite time of night. Thank you for showing us a scene to dream about.
ReplyDeletelol Zoe why thanks! Good to make people laugh, even if it is at my own expense i.e. being attacked by a ferocious animal in my own sitting room. Ok, ok, I exaggerate. The NERVE, though, of a cat jumping in through an open window to my sitting room and scaring the pants off me. Tweet you later then. Today it's mostly politics (what a giggle THAT is in Britain) and domesticity mishaps.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this photo,SO Paris - I think it will become one of my favourites - thank you !
ReplyDeleteLike Anne I will use this photo in my daydreams.
Buzz Girl is back ;-D
BTW Eric, I'm sorry for your friend that he has to leave this lovely place in the 17th.
Congratulations to Nathalie and "Avignon In Photos!!" How exciting!
ReplyDeletePardon Tomate,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right I have used poor manners on this website regarding not using a profile or nickname and instead using the generic Anonyme sign on. The comment between Monsieur Keats and I have now come to an end, so this will not happen again.
Je suis désolé to all on PDP for my lack of manners and consideration. I actually have two names my american name and my french name.
Keats... On my original blog the one you met me on. It was all true and is a rough outline for my book. But you do not know my real name.
Sometimes I test people to see if they want to know me and not the other silly things that are part of my life... wealth, priviledges a different lifestye.
{My Grandmother came from a very well to do family}.
I am a creative person and in my own right. I am a very successful artist. I am now writing a book and there has been some interest shown in it already. I have always been lucky when it comes to money, but not so much when it comes to love.
Monsieur Keats was someone who I thought there may be a future with. If you have been reading our comments to each other... you will see I was wrong. There in no future with him as he has stated he loves someone else.
You can find true love online if you hold yourself to very high standards. Since you know my personal business through no fault of your own. I will tell you, I have met someone online with the same background as I have. I have kept him at arms length, because of my feeling for another. But now I guess, I should at least try with him.
People always say that the wealthy only date or married their own kind. It's not true, if we are given half the chance... we only want to be loved for are ourselves like eveyone else. And in my case not loved for an inheritance that my Grandmother left me.
One good thing about having money? Anthony is taking me gliding tomorrow...we do not live in the same country, but it's not a problem for us. It is our first date. Wish me luck.
Love the blue in this photo and also the vantage point from which it was taken Eric. Have been away from PDP for a while but I see that the Anons have been making merry. LOL Have no idea what it is about but it sounds like love is in the air. Bon chance I say. I send out a birthday wish to my friend "V" (should she be tuned into PDP) since I have lost her email. BTW...congrats Katie for your stellar GF grab!
ReplyDeleteLove that blue sky!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, GF Katie.
Good luck Zoe!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Zoe...Amuse-toi bien!
ReplyDeleteKeats
Pardonez-moi Tomate,
ReplyDeleteI sincerely apologize for being such a nuisance! I have committed a major social "faux pas". Will redeem my blunder & make amend-ments.
Say HELLO to L.A.
Oops! SAN FRANCISCO...Oh..."a drowsy numbness pains my sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk."
ReplyDelete*Ode to a Nightingale
Bonjour Zoe,
ReplyDeleteBeing a creative person in my own right, I am habitually acquainted with artists & literary types. Their work, a gift to this world; their lives, very often, are dreadfully insipid.
Wealth & priviledges are worldly richness to which I rather NOT submit. Yet, I crave different lifestyle(s). Ménage à Trois, for instance.
Cupid he rules us all. One should, therefore, love to the depth and breadth and height his/her soul can reach.
Best of luck in life & in LOVE.
Cheers!
p.s. "The comment between Monsieur Keats and I have now come to an end." It breaks my heart!
